Hi I'm Linda

I'm a mother of six, grandmother of eleven, business owner, musician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have become "empty nesters" after raising our six children. We own and run a business and enjoy working together. I love spending time with our family especially my grandchildren. One of our sons was severely disabled and we had many struggles and challenges with him and his health. He recently passed away at the age of 24. I have been singing and playing the piano all my life and feel fortunate that I am able to still perform occasionally with three friends. I love keeping active as much I can and especially enjoy going on bike rides with my husband. When I find time to relax I love to read, especially mystery novels.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a family with devout faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his church. I had an easy time being an active member of the church, but my faith in God was deepened when I became an adult and was tested by the trials of life. I have learned to rely on the Lord in all things in my life and cannot fathom how lost I would be without the guidance I have received from Him in my life. The teachings about eternal life and being families forever gives me great hope that I will see my son again. My weekly attendance in church meetings where I renew my covenants through partaking of the sacrament has been a great blessing. Our church is a church of service. I have been able to serve others in various capacities some of them being organizing women's meetings, directing the choir, teaching children and adults. Through these opportunities I have learned so much about myself and I have learned new skills and developed my talents.

How I live my faith

I serve as a volunteer worker in the temple. I help with the ordinance work there. I am the organist for our congregation and have been pretty much my entire adult life. It is something I love to do. I also teach our women's class once a month. I visit with women from our congregation on a personal basis at least once a month. We enjoy getting together to share our beliefs, our concerns for our families and community and to get to know each other better.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Linda
Without our Savior Jesus Christ, we would never be able to return to our Heavenly Father. We believe that we need to do everything we can do to be worthy to return to our Heavenly Father by being obedient to His commandments and receiving saving ordinances such as baptism. But only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemene and on the cross and through His resurrection can we be saved. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Linda
Mormon temples are the most sacred place on earth for members. There is nothing sinister or secret going on there, only sacred covenants that are between us and the Lord. Because of its sacred nature only worthy members of our church are allowed to enter the temple. Through interviews with authorized clergy members where we declare our worthiness through special questions, we receive a recommend, which allows us to enter the temple. We go often to the temple because of the peace and spirit we can feel there. We also are able to participate in the ordinances that will give those who have died the opportunity to receive the ordinances of the temple. These can be members of our own family. We believe that through these ordinances, we will be families forever and our marriages will be eternal, not ending at our deaths. Show more Show less
