Hi I'm Jared Petersen

I'm a missionary in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission, I'm from Idaho, I'm a Snowboarder, an Eagle Scout, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and my friends. Having fun is important to me, if you don't have fun you're doing something wrong. I love snowboarding, camping, video games, and trying new things. I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I've always been an active member. I slowly grew my testimony throughout my life and then I went on my mission and my testimony grew more and faster than I ever thought it could. My mission has forever changed my life. My mission is the Tennessee Knoxville mission. I'm proud that I served in the south and I love it now. God has made me a new, better, person through my mission. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's church, for every one of His children, and that he has given me that knowledge because he trusts that I'll share it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because God blessed me to be born into a family of Mormons. He gave me the opportunity to have the truth in my life since I was born. Although I have been a member my whole life, I have had to find out for myself if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the church for me. I've prayed about that and I've come to know that this church is not only the church for me, but it is the church for all of God's children, which is everyone. That is why, as a missionary, I spend my days explaining the doctrine of the gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone who will give me some of their time. I've chosen to take 2 years out of my life to serve God and share the gospel with people who havent had the blessings of the gospel that I've had throughout my life. I chose to leave my home, my family, my friends, and so many other things that I love because I know that the teachings of this church are true and that it is the one church on the face of the earth that is truly lead by Jesus Christ. When I help other people come to know that for themselves and feel God's love in their life the way I have, all the things I've sacrificed are worth it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Gods commandments and trying every day to be more like Jesus Christ, and repenting when I fall short. I also live my faith by sharing it with others. When I have an opportunity to share my faith with someone else I've seen how my faith grows. Sharing what I believe with other people also helps me remember what I stand for, and makes it easier for me to live my life according to my faith. A key aspect for me to living my faith is having a good attitude about it. When I have a good attitude I feel the Spirit more, and the Spirit helps me be strong in my faith. I also live my faith by helping others. In Book of Mormon it says "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17). I do my best to serve others to show God that I love my brothers and sisters, but more importantly, that I love Him and want to serve Him. I have no idea how many people I've helped move in or out, or how many yards I've cleaned up, but I'm thankful for each of those opportunities to serve. When I serve someone, I forget about my problems and I feel more peace. That is how the Spirit tells me that what I'm doing is right.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jared Petersen
Being a Mormon is something that I'm proud of. It has brought me so much peace, happiness, guidence, and has taught me to love others, to serve them, and to share the things that are most important to me. My life has been so much better because of my membership in this church, and that's not because it's just a great organization with cool people. It's because I feel the Holy Ghost reassuring me that this church is true and that it is lead by Jesus Christ. And the feeling that reasures me of that is something that I want to share with everyone. Show more Show less
