Hi I'm Nanda

I'm a Mormon and I grew up in Colombia, South America.

About Me

I'm a wife and a mother of three children. My oldest son is currently serving a mission. I finished college when my kids were little with the Lord's help. I like to read inspirational literature, watch movies, cook and draw. The center of my life is God and my Savior Jesus Christ. They are everything to me and I love them with all of my heart. My hope is to become a better person so that I might one day see them again.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because one day when I was a little girl and after my Grandpa had died I was on my bed and I asked to the emptiness of the room, why I'm here? Where did I come from? Where would I go if I die like my Grandpa and I heard a whisper in my head that said, "You are a daughter of God and you have a mission here on earth." At that time I didn't understand it, I was only about 5 years old and I didn't know anything about prayer back then. Couple of years passed and two missionaries came into my aunt's life. She became a member of the church and she used to take me to the church with her once in a while and I remember recognizing the presence of the Holy Ghost there. One day, years later, I decided to read the Book of Mormon on my own and ask God if it was true. I remember one afternoon reading it and tears started flowing down my cheeks and I knew that I was one of those people the ancient Americans had seen receiving their writings in this book. The spirit was so strongly telling me that it was true and I knew then that those writing were totally true. I knew I was one of those people receiving these truths that had been seen long before by ancient prophets. I knew it and couldn't deny it. Since then I have served a mission, married in the temple and have tried to have a family centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Like everyone else, I have had ups and downs in my life, but one thing that is constant is the love I feel from my Savior and Redeemer and the love and blessings that come from my Heavenly Father. I know one day everything will make sense and one day we'll see them again. I know they are real and they love each one of us and want us to come back home; of that I have not a single doubt.

How I live my faith

I like to spend time with my family, especially my husband and my children. We read the scriptures and pray together. I like to teach and share my feelings of the Savior and his gospel. I want other people to know that He is real, that our Heavenly Father is real. I know this with all of my heart and soul. My life isn't perfect, I have much to learn and improve, but I try to be a good person. There are many times when I have to either apologize or ask for forgiveness... But that is the beauty of the gospel; we can do better the next day. I think I live my faith by thinking about my God and my Savior and having them present in my life, by being available and worthy when they need to use me as an instrument for good… And by trying to keep an eternal perspective on things and not losing hope. I live my faith by talking to my Heavenly Father each day.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The Lord Himself did. He spoke to a young man named Joseph Smith and called him to be his prophet. Joseph Smith was guided by Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father to start the restoration of their church on earth. They appeared to Joseph Smith and guided him in what to do through speaking with him and through Heavenly messengers. Show more Show less
