Hi I'm Sara Best

I love art. I love to knit. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at the University of Utah studying Journalism and Documentary Studies. I love adventuring in the mountains and in water, writing, doodling, riding my bike, knitting to my heart's desire, and documenting life. I'm the youngest of a bunch of girls and I love my family. I love to create and explore with my mind and my hands. I love to meet people and make friends. I can't sit still about how much I love this Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, I ventured out and decided to explore a myriad of different faiths. I had been raised "Mormon" and wanted to see for myself if it was something I truly believed or not. Having explored several churches for a period of about two to three years, I finally recognized that something was missing from these other faiths. That to me, preachers sermons felt hollow and redundant. I realize now what was missing: a chance for progression. When Jesus Christ died, and all of his apostles died, the priesthood authority he established on the earth had gone missing. The bible got confused because it had been translated so many times, none of which were directed by the Lord. We needed a living-day prophet, we needed a church led by God. He is a God of order, so of course He desires such consistency from his children. I am a Mormon because I have felt the power of that restored priesthood in my life. I have seen what following the principles of God's church can do to fortify and strengthen a family. I know my purpose on this earth. I know where I was and where I'm going before and after this life. And I know who I'm praying to when I pray: a loving, living Heavenly Father. That loving Heavenly Father would never allow death to part me from my family. I know it. I have prayed about it and received a sure confirmation that these are His teachings, this is His organized church. I am honored to be a part of it and invite every single person to come and learn for themselves!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example to those around me by standing up for the things which are important to me. In a world of shifting values, it's important to me to be steady. And it took me a while to realize that was important to me. But I have found that pure joy comes when we feel the love God has for us by keeping His commandments. I have seen how what Jesus Christ did for me when he suffered on the cross has given me the opportunity to be perfected in him. And the opportunity God gave me to receive that knowledge has left me with an internal obligation to share it with his children. I know every single person has the ability to be an example of Christ. Which is what we need to return to live with him! I live my faith by praying to develop Christlike attributes and serving in any way I can. And I'm not perfect, not by any stretch of the imagination, but if I can help others understand how much God loves them, I know that is the source of all happiness.
