Hi I'm Kira Johnson

i love nature, reading dictionaries, breathing air. i braid my hair. I am a Mormon!

About Me

Who am I? I am someone that loves a lot. I love the world and its vastness and its wonder; I love people; I love everything that brings happiness. I love swingsets, sunsets, and benches. I am fascinated by mankind, and awed by the beauty of life. I love surrounding myself with good company. I grew up in Russia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Guatemala, and as a result have developed a special fondness of and appreciation for cultures, traditions, and religion. I love all sports, but especially lacrosse and soccer. And longboarding, if that counts as a sport. Simple things make me happy, like pebbles or leaves and acorns. and the many kinds of clouds. I consider myself an avid music appreciator. It speaks to my soul. I appreciate good literature, the kind where the writing is beautiful and unique and makes you think. I love words. and by that I definitely imply that I read the dictionary for fun. My favorite time of day is Golden Hour--the moments before sunset when the whole world is crisp and rose-gold. I sincerely believe that there is no such thing as a bad day; some days are just better than others.

Why I am a Mormon

There comes a time when everyone must find out for themselves what they believe. I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents are incredible examples, and they always emphasized our church attendance, family prayers, family dinner, family scripture study, etc. For the first part of my life, my stem of faith was a branch off my parents' trees. Early on, I decided to act on what I had learned from church every Sunday--I began praying on my own, studying the scriptures on my own, and attending church because I wanted to, not because my parents encouraged it. I can say for myself that I am a Mormon because I have tasted of the joy that it brings into my life. Everything about the gospel of Jesus Christ points us towards having true happiness, and ultimately towards living with our Heavenly Father. I follow the commandments because I LOVE Him--I love my Father in Heaven SO much! I want to thank Him for the many blessings I have received, and what better way to thank Him than by doing what He has asked: keep the commandments. My testimony is rooted in the Atonement of Jesus Christ--His suffering and overcoming the sins and pains and sicknesses of all mankind. I feel the love of my Savior. There is no possible way for me to deny the feeling of warmth--almost like a hug--when I consider the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This belief in the Atonement is strengthened every time I read from the Book of Mormon. I love the Book of Mormon! I seem to find myself in every story written within the Book of Mormon. Oh, what joy fills my soul every time I read from the Book of Mormon! I know that Heavenly Father loves and cares about every single person sooooo much. Why am I a Mormon? Because I have no doubt that I am a divine daughter of God. and I want to follow Him and love Him.

How I live my faith

For 18 months, I have been called to be a missionary in British Columbia. What an honor! I am blessed with the opportunity to talk to so many beautiful people from all walks of life and introduce them to what brings lasting joy and happiness--the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing makes me happier! I love serving and loving. I love to talk to everyone and anyone. I live my faith by striving to love all people with the love of Christ. I live my faith my smiling and being optimistic because this faith is one of hope and joy! I want every single person to know what beautiful souls they have. I really believe in humanKIND. We can all be kind. Christ was so kind, and so I try to be kind and loving.
