Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a Mormon. I am serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Arkansas, Bentonville Mission.

About Me

I've come to love life. Spending time outdoors, watching the stars, writing, swimming, listening to great music, movies with friends, dancing, or just relaxing, are all things that I enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I believed it was right, because that's what I'd learned my whole life. As I approached my early teens, I started to become curious and even a little rebellious. If I was going to live the gospel, I wanted to know it was true for myself. So, for a while, I chose not to live it. I did my own thing for the most part. Though I still went to church and activities from time to time, I found myself going less and less. The days I did go, I would often feel a sense of belonging and joy, but as I decided to do other things, I didn't feel as positive as I once had. The longer this went on, the more I made decisions that caused me to sink into a depression. In the end, there was not just one certain point or moment that led me to believe and live the gospel again, but rather, there were many times that I would be reminded of what I had already known to be true. There were many small moments, and some bigger, where I began to see that returning would help my life. As I chose to test this and to start going back to church, and activities again, my confidence and happiness and understanding all began to grow. Once I decided to really try, and to find out for myself if the religion I'd grown up in was true by living it, I had gained a much greater understanding and appreciation for the religion and church of Jesus Christ. I became happier and less depressed, I found I could live the gospel and be more myself. I have seen where I would be without the gospel in my life and, now, I am so blessed to know where I can go with it. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the true church of Christ. Something that has helped me a lot, has been to pray and live my life close to God. I know that if anyone will pray to our Heavenly Father, with real intent, He will answer their prayers. He is the source of all truth.

How I live my faith

I enjoy going to the activities my church provides. Sometimes we camp, go to dances, do service, or play games. I had the opportunity to be on one of the activity planning committees in my church where, I worked with others to plan and prepare fun and uplifting events that anyone could attend. A favorite of mine was a night spent playing games and getting to know more people. When I'm not out doing activities, I like to try to learn and improve new skills, like writing, singing, making jewelry, or playing an instrument. Whatever I'm doing, it always seems to go better or more smoothly, when I'm doing what I know to be right, staying close to God and keeping a positive attitude.
