Hi I'm Joshua Short

My name is Joshua. I'm from West Valley, Utah. I'm currently serving in the great Canada Calgary mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 8. I have a mom and dad, an older sister serving in the Kentucky, Louisville Mission, a younger brother serving in the Washington, Tacoma mission, two younger brothers and a little sister. I love my family a lot! They are the greatest influence in my life and I can not wait to see them again when I return home from my service. My mom and dad are the greatest blessings in my life and I have learned that they do, in fact, know what they are talking about. I like to sing, play guitar, listen to music, play soccer, ultimate Frisbee and disc-golf. I would love to be in a band one day. On a more spiritual note, I love to serve. I love the Lord with all my heart, He is my Savior and I am truly in debt to Him for what He has done for me. I love to teach the gospel, I love to give service to my brothers and sisters, I love to show others that there is something great for them in this life and it is within reach.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I grew up in the church of course, coming from a highly populated Mormon city. My parent raised me in the gospel and taught me all that I needed to know to build a foundation and testimony of the church. I had doubts, as we all do, about the church and if it was real or not. Right before entering into the mission field, I was really nervous about whether or not I really wanted to do this and if it was the right thing for me to do. Two years is a long time to give of your life. I prayed to God to ask, for the first time if He was there and if this was right. I received the most loving, warm feeling I had ever experienced in my life, God had answered my prayer and told me that this is the right thing to do. Why am I a Mormon now? I'm a Mormon because I know that the church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. I know that the Atonement is real. If you ever have questions about these things, pray about them, God will give you an answer.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving in Cardston, Alberta for my mission. A mission is where someone decides to give up a period in their life to serve God and help other people live more meaningful lives. We as missionaries provide all kinds of service. I have taught ESL and helped out with flood relief. We also teach people about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. We teach about the love that our Father in Heaven and Christ bring to us. We teach about the Plan of Salvation that helps us live the most meaningful lives and helps us return to live with God again. I also have the opportunity to help other missionaries have more meaningful missions and have the chance to help them in their day to day missionary lives. I am so grateful that God has sent me to the people of Canada to meet them and serve them. They are truly amazing children of God and I love them very much We attend church every week, sing hymns, say prayers, learn, and grow. I try to live by example to show that living the commandments and standards of the church are the best way to be successful in life and be a benefit to the world.
