Hi I'm Hannah

I'm a full time missionary. I love to create art. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am from Utah, born and raised. My father grew up here and for the first 18 years of my life I lived in the same house that he grew up in, so I love my home town. My family has our struggles, but they are the most amazing thing in my life. My parents are divorced and have both remarried, and between all the families I have 4 older brothers, 12 step siblings, and 14 nieces and nephews. I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Canada, Toronto mission. I absolutely love being a missionary! You don't have to be called as a missionary to share the gospel, but this calling has brought additional blessings to my life and my family. When I return home from my mission, I want to study Bio-mechanical engineering and become a Prosthetics and Orthotics Practitioner to help provide artificial limbs for those who are disabled. I love other activities like wood working, painting, and playing music. One of the ways I feel closer to God is by appreciating the beauty in the world and improving my skills in creating beautiful things!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I have grown up in the gospel, I have gone in and out of activity. Everyone in my family chooses to express their faith in different ways, but I continued to go to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on my own because it felt right. I now look back on that experience and recognize it as the spirit testifying to me that the Gospel is true. I believe in doing good unto others and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ really boils down to having a love for God and a love for others. This is the very essence of the Gospel, and I strive to live my life in a way that glorifies my Heavenly Father and uplifts everyone I meet. Without the Gospel, I couldn't do to the fullest extent that I can with it in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by choosing every day to serve God and my fellow human beings. Because God loves us, he gives us agency, or the ability to choose. If we exercise our choices to follow the commandments, we can increase our faith and understand better what God would have us do. I have taught primary children (ages 8 and 9) for my church calling, but now I serve as a Full Time Missionary to spread the word of God. Every day I meet people with different needs and I love that the gospel can help them to feel God's love. This love is perfect, and He has given us a way to live happier peaceful lives that will lead us back to living with Him again someday.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Hannah
As women, we have a divine calling of our own that doesn't require us to have the priesthood. Each of us as a special daughter of God has distinct abilities that allow us to be powerful in different ways. In the October General Conference of 2015, President Russell M. Nelson said "We, your brethren, need your strength, your conversion, your conviction, your ability to lead, your wisdom, and your voices. The kingdom of God is not and cannot be complete without women who make sacred covenants and then keep them, women who can speak with the power and authority of God!" Many women also have the opportunity to bring forth children into the world. The calling of a Mother is a divine one. Even those women who cannot bear children possess that same power of a mother to nurture, care, provide, comfort and guide. Men and women are equal partners who work together to bring about the best in each other and the people around them. There is a reason we are different, and it helps us to rely more fully on one another. Show more Show less
