Hi I'm Kristi

My dream as a young girl was to be a mom. I married the man of my dreams and we were blessed with nine children!

About Me

I have raised nine children. They were born one at a time over an eighteen year period. People have asked, "how did you do it?". As I ponder that question, the answer is clear to me. I did it with a supportive husband, a lot of work and with great faith. Now after over 40 years of marriage we have been blessed with 25 grandchildren with number 26 on the way. Life has not been easy. We work hard, sacrifice and pray; a lot! We have had our share of joy and sorrow, but living the gospel has been the greatest blessing to our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth generation Mormon, so I was born in the church. However, when I was born, my dad was an inactive member and my mom was not a member of the church. Through my mothers' desire she investigated the church and encouraged my dad to come back. I remember the trip our family made when I was six years old to travel to the Salt Lake City temple to be sealed together as a family in a sacred temple ceremony. Two years later I was baptized and my membership in the church has remained strong. I feel blessed to know at an early age the teachings of the Savior. I remember listening to General Conference and hearing the words of the Prophet David O. McKay and other church leaders. I had the safest and strongest feeling that the words they spoke were true. I knew that my dad believed and he held the Priesthood just like these men. I knew that my dad would not lead me astray and that these men were God's spokesperson on the earth. When I was older I read the words of the Prophet Wilford Woodruff who stated that the Lord would not permit any man in the position of President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to lead any man astray. I believed those words. I have come to know of the truthfulness of the gospel by living its teachings. By experimenting on the principles of prayer, and having faith that my Heavenly Father hears my prayers and knows me, I believe! By searching the scriptures I have found peace and comfort through many difficult times. By serving others I have felt the love of the Savior, because when you lose yourself in service you forget about you and become an instrument in His hands. I have felt the loving arms of the Savior around me as I have worried over a sick or wayward child or coming to Him to repent of my wrongs. I believe in Christ. I follow His gospel because I know it is the way for me to be with Him and with my family eternally.

How I live my faith

Raising a family is the most important thing to me, I know it was my calling in life and I feel extremely blessed. During those early years I have been able to learn and grow as I helped my kids thru cub scouts, sports, music lessons and school. I have been a cub scout leader, a music leader and teacher in the children's organization at church, a volunteer at school, and a youth leader in the church's young women's organization. The most challenging and worthwhile thing that I have ever been privileged to do, next to being a mom, was being a teacher for high school age kids in the Seminary program of the church. It is an extra class that they voluntarily take to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is daily classroom instruction of the principles and doctrine found in the Scriptures. It takes faith to learn and teach and live the teachings of the Savior. I did it because of my faith in Jesus Christ and my desire to follow His example. I try to live my life by drawing close to Him through daily Scripture study and prayer and living in such a way that I hope His light will shine through me in some small way.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Blessings can come as you prayerfully read the scriptures seeking for answers to your questions. When you commit to read and study everyday, you are putting the Lord and His word into you, feeding your Spirit. I have felt the power of the word of God as I prayerfully and humbly ask for understanding and direction. Reading the Book of Mormon has also helped me to see the relationship it has with the Old Testament. Show more Show less
