Hi I'm Hunter Markus

I grew up and live in Idaho. I play basketball, tennis and piano. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I like playing basketball. My dad taught me pretty much everything I know. He was my Y-ball and AAU coach (and better than any of my high school coaches). He helped me develop a passion for the game. Basketball has taught me a lot of life lessons, and I am so grateful for the amazing relationship I have with my dad because of the hours we would spend shooting at a church gym together! I also love playing piano. I have been playing for as long as I can remember. I mostly like arranging things and playing by ear. I wish I could sight read music better, but that has always been a challenge for me, so I just make up my own! I am in Student Council at my high school. I love planning school events and getting others more involved (you also get lots of perks like free prom tickets!) I have just been called to serve in the Honduras San Pedro Sula West Mission. I leave for the Mexico MTC on June 11, 2014, and I am so excited to go!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but this doesn't mean that I didn't gain my own testimony of the church. My parents set great examples for me, but ultimately it was my choice to be a Mormon. I have seen how much this church blesses lives of members and nonmembers who have faith. I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the example he gave. His sacrifice is what allows me to be free. The church is so centered around families, and my family means everything to me. I have prayed and come to know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and that Thomas S. Monson is also a true prophet of God. I know that God speaks through His prophets today (Amos 3:7), and that he loves all of his children.

How I live my faith

I currently have a calling in my stake as a member of the stake youth council. I, along with representative from other wards in the stake, get the opportunity to plan stake dances, stake service projects and speak at various ward conferences. It is a blessing, and I love working and serving with the other members. This gospel has blessed me so much, and I look forward to continue to serve and share this gospel with people on my mission and after my mission.
