Hi I'm Jayne

I have lived in Utah my whole life. I am currently attending the University of Utah studying nursing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up and currently live in Utah. I love where I live and feel so blessed to be surrounded with so many members of the church. I love to spend time outside whether its hiking, playing tennis or lacrosse, or just going for a walk. I have been attending the University of Utah for 2 years now studying to be a nurse, but I am going to take a year and a half off as I am getting ready to serve a mission for the Church. When President Monson first made the announcement that young men and young women would now be able to serve at 18 for boys and 19 for girls there was an incredible amount of people who stepped up to serve. I wanted to make sure that a mission was the right choice for me and so I prayed, and I prayed some more and when I got the confirmation that the Lord was leaving it up to me, I made the choice to serve and to be a part of the hastening of the work because I love the Lord and I love this gospel with all of my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I choose to be. I know with all of my heart that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ and that Joseph Smith restored it to the earth. I know that life here on earth comes with struggles and trials, but I also know that if we pray and if we live in a way that will bring us closer to God, we will be comforted and brought through our hardships. I have been in the church my whole life so I am not sure what its like to be outside of the gospel, but I do know that within the gospel we have an amazing support system within our wards and stakes and that there will always be someone who knows what you are going through, whether it is your next door neighbor or our loving Savior and brother Jesus Christ; we are never alone. The gospel brings people together and I feel it in my own life and I see it in the lives of others. I have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and I know that because of his sacrifice and pure love for each and every one of us, we have the opportunity to live here on earth and to one day return to our loving Heavenly Father. I have a testimony of prayer and I know that prayers are answered so long as we do our part and strive every day to be a little better than we were the day before. I know that by being a member of the Church I have the Spirit in my life and that I am comforted and prompted to do certain things. I love the Lord and I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church weekly and by personal and family study of the gospel principles. I love starting off a new week by attending church. I truly believe that if I go to church with an open heart and an open mind I can learn something new each time I go, not only about the church but about myself. I have a true desire to serve and with the gospel of Jesus Christ we have endless opportunities to serve. The church is based on service and there are opportunities everywhere if we just seek them out! I love being able to serve people in my community and ward, whether its doing yard work or bringing a new mom and her family dinner. I recently had the opportunity to go on a service trip to Africa and there is nothing better than serving people who truly need to be served. Although opportunities may arise to go to Africa or do service in some immense way, I believe that it is the simple acts of kindness and service that can change a persons day for the better. Our church embraces the spirt of service.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jayne
Yes! We are Christian and we believe in Christ. People may not believe that we are Christian because we choose not to idolize the Cross or they assume that because our Church is so different from any other that we can't be Christian. We choose to focus on the life of Jesus Christ and His perfect example. We strive to be like Him and follow Him in all that we do. Our gospel and everything we believe is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is our Savior and Redeemer, our brother and friend, and everything we believe leads to Christ and His incredible sacrifice that we may one day be able to return to live with our loving Heavenly Father. Most importantly we believe that Christ Lives and that He loves us! The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ and within the book we find "witnesses of His divinity, His life, and His Atonement." Show more Show less
