Hi I'm Ana

I am a mother of six children and grandmother of twelve who I love dearly.

About Me

I come from a family of 5 girls and 1 boy, my mom came from a family of 5 girls and 1 boy and her mom came from a family of 5 girls and 1 boy. We have 5 girls and 1 boy! I love to quilt and make useful fabric items for family, friends and humanitarian projects. I enjoy teaching children, or anyone who wants to learn, drawing, cooking, and sewing or english as a second language.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church by an overdue notice for 14 books on Mormonism that came for my husband. We were college students living in an 8 X 37 foot trailer and I never saw any of them. When confronted, he sheepishly told me they were in the trunk of his car. Evidently a fellow student, who was only 16 at the time shared a lab from a common class they were taking. In between using the microscope she would ask him what he knew about the Mormon church. It piqued his interest so decided to investigate on his own by checking the books out of the college library. I mentioned to a co-worker his bizarre behaviour and she told me he might be interested in a book she received in Utah while on vacation with her parents. She thought it was a book about the history of Utah and had no desire to read it. My friend brought it to work, gave it to me and I gave it to my husband. He began reading it at night when we were both home. He seemed so interested in it that it stirred my curiosity so I asked him what he was reading about. He said he was reading about two thousand young men who had been taught by their mothers to be obedient to God's commandments and by being faithful they would be protected when they were about to engage in a battle for their families and their faith. I was impressed at the influence a mother could have on her children. I wanted to be that kind of faith- developing mother. The more I heard about the gospel the more I was convinced it was true. The best decision I have ever made was my decision to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Ever since I found the gospel of Jesus Christ as a young married adult, my life has been filled with joy through service. Some of my greatest opportunities to share my talents have been through the Church. Though I had a professional teaching credential, I have spent far more time in a voluntary assignment teaching Christian principles to bubbly young children. They make me laugh, they make me smile and they've given me a few grey hairs. Following a major flood in a nearby city, our family housed 13 victims for two months. I became a first responder in friendship to those in distress. My background in education led me to teaching an early morning religion class to junior and high school students at 6:45am. It was a privilege to share the words of the Bible every day. And I was blessed with an increased testimony of Christ. As part of an assignment to serve elderly sisters, I have had the sweet experience of walking through the final days of their beautiful Christ-centered live. Though naturally shy, the Church has allowed me to learn how to lead. Serving in the Church and living my faith has helped to create the person I am.
