Hi I'm Margaret (Maggie) Holyoak Jone

I grew up in Great Falls, Montana, and became a Teacher, Music Specialist, and a Reading Specialist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother and grandmother. I have 1 daughter and 3 boys, and my daughter has 5 beautiful children. I loved being an elementary teacher, and then worked as a Music Specialist, ending my career as a Reading Specialist. I enjoy singing, baking, reading, traveling, painting, quilting, and crocheting around baby blankets.

Why I am a Mormon

When young I had many friends of different faiths. Sometimes I attended Bible school, and had an aunt that occasionally took us to the Mormon Church. Then at about age 8 my friend Linda started taking me to the Mormon church's meeting for young children, called Primary. I loved primary, and soon my older sister and younger brother started attending with me. My mother belonged to another church but was not an active participant. Soon the missionaries came to our home to teach us all about the church. What they taught made so much sense and even in my 9 year old mind rang true. Mom, my 10 year old sister, me - age 9, and my 8 year old brother were all baptized. And that has made a huge difference in the direction of my life. When I was 16, as I read the Book of Mormon, I began praying to receive a witness of its truthfulness, as is recommended in the book. It didn't come right away. I continued to read and pray. One night, as I asked God for an answer, I began to feel a warm feeling coming over me...it started at the top of my head and went down to my toes. I knew I had received my answer. The Book of Mormon is true, and is another witness for Christ. Because it is true I strive to follow Jesus and His gospel. We are his hands here on the earth, and I love to serve others.

How I live my faith

In our community I volunteer as an Ombudsman (advocating for the elderly in assisted living homes) and helping others with medicare questions. I also have fun being a cub scout den leader for about twelve 9 year old boys, and play the piano for our sunday service for the young children ages 3-11. I also visit teach 3 fun ladies each month. I always take treats!
