Hi I'm Sister Sarvela :)

Pacific Northwest born and raised; currently serving a full time mission for our Heavenly Father. I love God and Jesus Christ. (:

About Me

Hi, I'm Lanae! I served in the Iowa Des Moines Mission 2015-2017! I am served a mission because I love Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. One thing I know for sure is that everybody has struggles, but the church really is for everybody! I have not lived even close to a perfect life, but the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ has allowed me to repent and make changes in my life so that I can be worthy to teach the gospel to people. I know that if we search for good then we will find it. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet on Earth today, I know that the Book of Mormon is true and the most perfect book on Earth, I know the gospel was restored by Joseph Smith. I know that God's timing is perfect. You can pray to know of truth for yourself!(: Pray and ask God. He will never lead you astray.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is the same church Jesus Christ Himself set up when He was on the earth. I want to live with God and my family again, so I do my best to follow Him. I know that this church is the only church on the earth with 100% truth. Other churches are good-- I've gone to a lot of other churches! I choose to be a Mormon because I prayed and asked God if The Book of Mormon is true and if the Mormon church is the right one for me. I cannot deny the feelings that I received were from God, telling me that this is true. This is right. You can know for yourself! Seriously, just ask God. I've never been happier and I promise you will find joy if you learn more and ask God with an open heart and mind if this church is true or not. I testify this church is true! God lives! Christ lives! They love us. That's what this all comes down to-- I am a Mormon because God loves me. Because God loves me (and ALL of us) He's given us this gospel to follow Him and live with Him again. (:

How I live my faith

Faith without works is dead, so I try to live my faith by doing good things that will help uplift others and bring me closer to God. I am not perfect, but I live my faith by: -Going to church weekly to partake of the sacrament, learn about Jesus, feel the spirit, and to obey the commandment to keep the Holy Sabbath Day holy. -Studying the scriptures daily. -Praying daily. -Seeking for opportunities to help other people. -Serving a mission! (: My faith is weak, but I'm working to make it strong. "...despite our limitations, let us press on!" "But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."(Job 23:10) Heavenly Father is aware of us and our needs. He gives us trials so we can endure, prove ourselves, and come out of that trial with a stronger testimony and faith in his gospel, goodness, and love.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Sister Sarvela :)
Yes and Yes!! Husbands and wives can be sealed in the temple and so can families. I know that family relationships can last for all of eternity, but we need to accept Christ's Atonement and follow His example. I love the temple--they're all so beautiful, sacred, holy, and happy! This is truly a joyful church that provides a true plan of happiness for everybody that accepts it. (: Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Sister Sarvela :)
We know that baptism by immersion is the way Jesus Christ was baptized. He set the perfect example to show us what we need to do to follow Him. He was baptized to, "fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15). Through the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we have the Priesthood Power-- or the authority of God given to man to righteously act in His name. Men who worthily hold the Priesthood have the authority, passed down in an unbroken line from Jesus Christ, to baptize and perform other ordinances. An ordinance is a sacred ceremony that represents entering into a promise with God. Through baptism, we are washed clean of all our sins and promise to follow God. We promise to always keep His commandments and to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. The special promise we make at baptism is called a covenant. This means that God promises us in return that we can live with Him again as long as we are faithful to our promises, and that He will forgive us of our sins. By being baptized you make these wonderful and eternal covenants with God and become a member of His true and living church on the Earth again today. (: Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Sister Sarvela :)
Yes! God has always called prophets from the beginning of time! Prophets lead and guide God's church on the earth. They are called by the power of God to interpret the word of God--the scriptures. All the characteristics of prophets are important because our world now is so confusing! Wars (physical and spiritual) are rampant all around. I know we need a prophet on the earth again to receive revelation from God. We can receive answers for ourselves, but we can't really pray and know what someone across the world needs. God knows what they need and so He calls worthy servants to lead and guide His church on the earth-- what a blessing! Show more Show less
