Hi I'm Brandi

I'm California girl. I'm a daughter, a student and a geek. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work two jobs in food service and I love them. I spend most of my free time with my dog and my mom. Cooking is my true passion and I spend as much time in the kitchen because of it. There's nothing like seeing bliss of people trying food and realizing they've never eaten something so good. That moment is something I strive for in all of my cooking. I love to read and to geek out with my friends over the latest book and movie news. I love getting outside. Hiking and exploring with my dog and my friends is always fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I did not grow up a member of the church but my mom and dad did make it a point to read the bible with me and teach me about God and my relationship with him. For most of my youth I remember searching for the truth but everywhere I looked I was disappointed with how little was taught of our Savior. Then my friends invited me to come to church with them. Walking into the church building I immediately felt a joy that was so deeply rooted it was as if I felt it in my entire body. The lessons that were taught of the Savior that day and for the weeks following were exactly what I had been searching for. I have been a member for almost a decade now and I am still learning. I want to know everything I can about our Lord. I want to be as our Savoir is and feel the love that He has for our fellow brothers and sisters. There is so much to learn and see and do. I am so grateful for the gospel. I am so grateful the our Heavenly Father loved us enough to have this Earth made where we can learn and grow.

How I live my faith

I get to help lead the women's group in my ward. Through this I help organize activities and visit the women in the ward to help them in anyway they need. I love being at church. There is so much peace there and every moment I spend in some church activity is a moment I love. I study my scriptures everyday and pray to my Heavenly Father constantly. Not only does He love us but He guides us and throughout the day I try to listen for that guiding influence. I strive to follow the commandments He has given us and I try to share His gospel with my family and friends.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Brandi
In addition to keeping our spirits pure we need to keep our bodies pure. The Word of Wisdom is a set of laws that were given to us to help us keep our bodies pure. These laws include abstaining from tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea and illegal drugs. Also part of it are guidelines as to uses of vegetables and meats. Following the Word of Wisdom not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but shows the Lord that we are willing to follow his commandments. Show more Show less
