Hi I'm Laurel

I grew up in North Carolina. I love the outdoors. I'm a mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in North Carolina and decided to venture out to go to school. I went to BYU-Idaho where I got a degree in Theatre and Speech Education and a love for the outdoors. I already loved spending my time outside, but spending time in Idaho helped me appreciate life and the beauty you find outside. I fell in love with snowboarding there. Then I came home, met the man of my dreams and got married. Now we spend our time between work, school, and our new little girl. I'm trying to foster her love for the outdoors as well. It's fun to see her excitement for the big wide world.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon. I always have a constant reminder that not someone, but my Heavenly Father, is watching over me. It's nice to know that, especially in times of difficulty- which is a lot, when you're putting your husband through Med School. I love this gospel because it reassures me and gives me peace. I know that if I'm trying my best, than the Lord will help with the rest. I love the sweet feelings I receive from going to church and from teaching the gospel to my little one. I've always been a member of this church, I grew up with a family that taught me the gospel from an early age. I've always known it was true, but it was when I went out on my own and FELT it was true. True because I know I am a daughter of God, I can feel His love, and I can feel His Spirit.

How I live my faith

I have a calling in our church in the womens organization in our area. I work with several women who are called to be teachers to the other ladies in our church. Through our womens organization we also serve and look out for the other women we go to church with. It's incredible the love I feel from the other women and the love I feel from my Heavenly Father for the work that I do. I also am a visiting teacher, which is basically a calling where you are assigned another woman to work with, and you go out and visit with two to three other women. It's basically a big networking tree, so we always know how everyone is doing and who needs help. I also spend time going out with our missionaries. I love the sister missionaries! I currently have a sister in law serving a mission in Reno, NV. It's exciting to help these sisters share the gospel by sharing my personal testimony.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Temples are used for keeping families together... forever! We have marriages in the temple, as well as baptisms for those that have already passed on. It's an opportunity for them to receive the gospel and then be bound to their families for time and all eternity. It's beautiful the things we do in the temple. It is a place of worship, and a place of peace. Show more Show less
