Hi I'm Marissa

I'm an engineering student. I love to run, eat, and read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of five kids. I love spending time with my family, including my extended family. I enjoy doing things outdoors with my family, including camping, boating, four wheeling and playing volleyball. I also enjoy hiking, running, and going on walks. I love math and science, and am currently studying Civil Engineering. I love good food, and especially love to cook. I have been called to serve a mission in Argentina!

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel has helped me to become the best person I can be, and continues to help me do so. It has given me so many opportunities to grow. I'm grateful for the knowledge I have because of the gospel of Christ's Atonement and the cleansing, strengthening, and enabling powers it has. I'm grateful for the eternal perspective that the plan of salvation brings into my life, and also for my knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for me. I love the guidance His plan brings into my life, and the happiness that comes from it. Because of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have purpose in my life, the tools I need to succeed, and I am happy!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to always be more like Christ. I love to serve others. For almost two years I volunteered at the hospital by my house on a weekly basis. One school year I volunteered at the Literacy Center at my library, reading with a fourth grade girl each week. I love the opportunities I have to serve others each day. Each Sunday I teach a family history class, where I help other people to learn how to find their ancestors and help teach the importance of knowing your family history.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Marissa
We believe baptism is an ordinance essential for salvation. We also believe in both a merciful and just God. Because God is just, we cannot enter into His kingdom without being baptized. But, because He is also merciful He provided a way for those who have passed away without receiving this essential ordinance to have it performed for them through proxy baptisms. Through the performing of these ordinances for our ancestors, all people will have the opportunity to accept this gospel or reject it. Show more Show less
