Hi I'm Juan Mejia

I grew up in Colombia but I moved to the US. I am a student and researcher at BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student majoring in Physiology and Developmental Biology. I research the adverse effects of second-hand smoke with a focus on embryology. I love to snowboard and workout.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the strength and unity it has given my family and all the blessings that come with the knowledge that I can be be with them forever. Before my family was Mormon, we were committed members of the Catholic church. It all started when some of our Mormon friends started talking to us about their church. At first we weren't interested because the Catholic church provided similar doctrine and we didn't think we needed to convert to another church that taught almost the same things. It wasn't until our friends talked about the power of the family and how through temple sealing, we could be together forever that we started listening. I remember the excitement and the peace that we felt in our hearts when we heard this true doctrine. It eventually led to our baptisms and joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm deeply grateful for the Church because it has given me the opportunity to be with the people I love most for eternity and because of the chance it has given me to have my past transgressions wiped clean because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I'm hoping that when I teach the gospel on my mission, I'll be able to give people the opportunity to feel that same spirit that helped me know that my family can be together forever. I want to share with everyone that through the Atonement they'll be able to feel the same peace I have felt. I know that through this they may know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I recently had the opportunity to be called to serve a mission for two years in Wichita, Kansas. During those years I will be giving other people the chance to hear about the gospel and provide them the same opportunities and happiness I experienced when I joined the church.
