Hi I'm Rebecca

I love the outdoors. I enjoy a good book and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the wife of an incredible man. I have two sons and one daughter and I have the amazing privilege of being a full time mom. I served an LDS mission in Brazil (Joao Pessoa) and worked as a recreation therapist before becoming a mom. My husband is giving me piano lessons and I occasionally dust off my trombone for fun. It is sometimes hard to find time to read, but my husband and I will usually read together on trips. I love working in the yard and gardening. I enjoy cooking and baking and I especially enjoy finding delicious healthy foods that my kids enjoy too. I have lived in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Maryland and North Carolina and love the people and places I have experienced.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because my parents were Mormon and that was all that I knew. In time I began to question my parents' beliefs and had to find things out for myself. I studied and prayed to know the truth. I exercised faith by continuing to live the things I had learned even though I was unsure. In time my faith paid off. God is good and He will always hear and answer our sincere prayers. We must be willing to listen and put forth some effort and quite often need to be very patient. There is a wonderful and true analogy in the scriptures (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/32?lang=eng) that faith is like a seed and must be planted and watered and weeded in order to grow. I try to be diligent in daily watering and weeding and nourishing the seed of faith and I have indeed been blessed with results. I know God lives. I know His Son, Jesus, is the Savior of the world. And I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Church that Christ established to help all of God's children return to His presence.

How I live my faith

My faith has shaped who I am and what I do. Because I know God lives and has a plan for me, I try to know Him daily by reading and studying His words in the scriptures. Our family also reads His words together daily. Each day I kneel in prayer with my family. Each day I kneel in prayer with my spouse. And throughout each day I have personal prayer with my Father in Heaven. I know He loves me and listens to me. One evening a week our family comes together to sing a hymn and discuss some aspect of God's words. Each Sunday we attend church together where we are able to reflect upon the Savior's sacrifice and study the scriptures and words of modern day prophets. I have the opportunity to volunteer my services as a secretary to the women's organization of our church in the unit we attend. I had no secretarial skills before being asked to serve in this capacity and I have learned so much. I live my faith by loving and serving those around me in my community - helping others during sickness, loss, financial difficulties, etc. My faith in Jesus is what motivates me to try to live a life as selfless as He did.
