Hi I'm Don Allred

I grew up in Utah. I started a explosives equipment manufacturing company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have three sons and 11 grandchildren. Every August I enjoy a family camp in the mountains East of Salt Lake City. We sleep in tents, prepare meals, and enjoy the beauty of flowers, trees, shrubs, birds, squirrels, deer, elk and other wildlife. Observing the stars and planets in the night sky away from city lights opens our minds to the creations of God. I enjoy sports and being active. Before retiring I worked as a Chemical Engineer with industrial explosives in Utah and in Indiana. Hobbies like raising tropical fish and pigeons help me relax and relieve stress. I enjoy working with young men and have served as a Boy Scout leader and baseball coach. All three of our sons earned the Eagle rank as boy scouts.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always desired to know the difference between truth and error. I'm thankful for good parents who taught me many things that I have found to be true. I'm thankful for the scriptures including the Bible and Book of Mormon. I have read them many times and continue to learn truth in daily study. Being a Mormon allows me to act on my knowledge of the truth. Through the teachings and instructions of modern day apostles and prophets I have a clear understanding of what is pleasing to God. I have great hope that after the resurrection we will enjoy the pursuits of Eternity.

How I live my faith

Currently, I direct the work of the church in nine congregations. Working with the Bishops of each congregation, we work to strengthen families, care for the poor and needy, strengthen the youth and help prepare them to lead their own families in the future. We teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the scriptures. We teach the importance of applying the teaching of the Savior in our lives today. I try to do my best to live the principles taught by the Savior, the apostles and prophets. This helps me to enjoy peace and joy in this life, even with all the temptations and trials that surround us.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Don Allred
To me all living things testify that there is a God. All living things can reproduce and continue in the earth. Man has not created nor organized one thing capable life of reproduction. When I see the beauty and detail of each living thing it says to my heart and mind that it was created or organized by a greater intelligence. Some would desire to explain away the great creator and imagine theories of accidental creation such as lightning striking a swamp. Is it possible that lightning could strike an iron mine and create a Ford or any part thereof? As an engineer I see the greatness of God and all that comes from God. I see the weakness of men in comparison. It seems obvious to my mind that all things testify that there is a Creator who is God. Show more Show less
