Hi I'm Ashton

I'm an army brat. I'm a student. I love to smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently living at home with my mom, dad, little brother (15), dog, and cat. My older sister (22) is married and she and my brother-in-law live about an hour away so we still get to see them every once in a while. Both of my parents are teachers: my mom works in a special needs classroom from adults ages 18-21 and my dad is a JROTC instructor, marksmanship coach, and JV defensive line coach for a local high school. I am a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, but I'm currently taking time off because I am preparing to serve an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I absolutely love camping, road trips, and travelling! My dad is retired from the U.S. Army and we moved around every few years while I was growing up. We always drove to the new destination (no overseas tours) and on top of the moving, we would go camping all summer long. We would take weekends to go to a lake or the mountains or anywhere, really, that was outdoors and away from the world. I love spending the days fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, 4-wheeling, BBQ-ing, sight seeing, and just spending time together. Now that we're almost all grown up, we still love doing these things together. Since we're in Oregon, one of our favorite things to do is to go to the coast and play on the beach all day- even if it's cold! Basically, if it's something that can be done outside as a family, I love to do it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a firm testimony in this church. I know that it is true. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to this earth after he saw Him and our Heavenly Father in the Sacred Grove. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that families can be together for all of the eternities. Most of all, I know that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins and pains so that I can repent and be cleansed. Through His atonement, I can live with Him and Heavenly Father again if I am faithful and diligent.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to serve a full time mission to Chile! I will be there for 18 months, serving the people and preaching the gospel to anyone and everyone who will listen.
