Hi I'm Brandon

I'm a basketball fan, I'm a student, I'm Canadian, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently working on my Kinesiology degree with the plan of getting into physiotherapy when I'm done. I love sports and it was through my rehab sessions for a torn ACL that my interest in rehabilitative medicine was sparked. I have been extremely blessed athletically and I hope to be able to help people to remain active and healthy in sports or just in life in general. I have played sports my entire life and I played basketball and volleyball throughout junior high and high school. Not many things could motivate me to run my guts out but I love the feeling of playing in front of a huge crowd with my friends! I love to read pretty much anything and I could easily sit down with a good book and read all day long, (which I have done on a few occasions). I love to learn new things and am always looking for opportunities to challenge myself and expand my knowledge.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and I never really doubted the things I was taught by my parents and church leaders. However, like everyone, I did have to discover for myself whether these things really were true. There are so many reasons why I believe what I do. My dad was a huge example for me growing up because of his faithful and dedicated service in everything that he did. He never complained and was always one of the first on hand when something needed to be done. My testimony grew a ton as I was able to spend time with him in various settings and see how strong his faith in Christ was. I was also extremely blessed with a group of friends that really helped and supported me growing up. I live in a small city and there are not a ton of youth who are members of the church. We didn't let this affect us though and we always stuck together, getting through high school and preparing to serve missions for the Lord. I was the last one to leave but it was a really great feeling knowing that each of my friends was out on the Lord's errand at the same time. Their support and examples really helped me to strengthen my testimony of the gospel. One more reason that I am a Mormon is because of the Book of Mormon. Like I said, I love to read and this book is by far the best book out there. I could spend hours studying and talking about this book and I know that I wouldn't have even scratched the surface of what it has to offer. I love it so much and have felt the Spirit testify of its divinity on numerous occasions. This book truly testifies of Christ and I am a witness of its power and the blessings that come from living its principles. I know that this is the true gospel of Christ because my Heavenly Father told me so through this book and the Holy Ghost. Nobody can convince me otherwise and I will bear this witness until the end.

How I live my faith

There are so many ways to live the gospel but I have found that one of the most effective ways is through service. I recently returned from serving a mission in Cape Verde, a 10 island country off the west coast of Africa, (don't feel bad if your don't know where that is, most people don't!), and I there I developed a love for serving other people. While there I was blessed with the opportunity to serve an extremely humble, and faithful people as we worked to bring the gospel into there lives. I honestly believe that I learned more from them than they did from me but I was very blessed to witness the growth of the Lord's kingdom on the isles of the sea. There are so many opportunities around me to serve others and, although it sometimes take time, I am always happy and willing to do so. Both in and outside of the church, there is always someone who could use my help and the joy I feel as I help God's children makes it worth it every time. As a missionary I developed a strong love for teaching and I am super excited every time an opportunity to teach comes up. I found that I learn so much as I study and prepare to teach someone else and my testimony has grown a ton because of these opportunities.
