Hi I'm Ryan

I am a simple hard working man, father of three, husband of one, and I love the Lord. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Utah where a lot of people were of the LDS faith. It was not until I was sent on a mission for the LDS church that I really experienced life out of Utah. Once returning from my mission I got married and worked 60 hours a week to put my wife and I through college. For the first 3 years of marriage it was definitely a struggle to get by with both of us going to school. By the time my wife graduated we had our first daughter. By the time I graduated we had our second one on the way. Both of our children ended up wtih health problems when they were born that really tested our faith in the Lord. They made it through it and so did we. Outside of work and church my wife is a softball coach and I love to play basketball every chance I get.

Why I am a Mormon

I realize everyday I look at my children how true the Almighty God is. To see the beautiful children he created is such a testament that God is real. I have also had too many spiritual experiences in my life not to believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I had the opportunity to be a missionary in the very place that the Prophet Joseph Smith was born. I was able to feel the Spirit of God everyday as I walked in the very places that Joseph Smith once walked. Every time I take a second to think about having a modern day Prophet on the earth I am so amazed. We live in a day where there is a Prophet of God on the earth just like Moses or Noah of old. We have the opportunity to listen to his guidance and council that he receives directly from God himself just as Moses did. What a tremendous thing that is. I have often caught myself asking the question is everything I believe true. Every time I ask myself that question the Holy Ghost always comes back with a resounding YES IT IS! I am confident that any sincer seeker of truth can and will have the same Spirit say the same thing. Yes living the Gosepl of Jesus Christ can be difficult and burdening sometimes but that is one of the very reasons I know it is true. If it was meant to be easy for us to be belivers then we wouldn't need to have faith. I challenge anyone who is seeking truth to excercise your faith and go to the Lord and he will answer.

How I live my faith

The LDS church is different from every other church in many ways. One of those ways is that everyone in the church is volunteer. We have no paid ministers. Every volunteers their time, talents, money, and efforts to help those in the church progress to become closer to God. My responsibility is to head up the missionary work in our local congregation. I get to experience the life of a Mormon missionary twice a week and some times more. I get to see the lives of those being taught by the missionaries change right before my eyes. Just like when I was a missionary I see miracles brought to pass by the Lord every single day. I get to see people who are sincere in their desires to come closer to God have their prayers answered and gain a belief in a modern day Prophet who is in every way, shape, and form like Moses of old. I get to coordinate the efforts of the missionaries with the members of the local congregation.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of this life is ultimately to have joy and receive all that our Heavenly Father has in store for us. In order for this to happen we have to go through life and receive a physical body just like our Heavenly Father and go through trials and experiences that will help us to learn good and evil. Hopefully we make the right choices but when we don't it is up to us to strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ by repenting and coming closer to him. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

One of the greatest blessings of having a living Prophet on the earth is the understanding that we now have of eternal marriage. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith the Lord revealed that families can be married and "sealed" for time and eternity (this life and the next) if done by the proper authority. That proper authority is the same authority that God gave to John the Baptist. It is the authority to act in the name of God or the "Priesthood". This Priesthood does not come by going to school, filling out an application online, or even by acquiring a business license but is done only by the laying on of hands by those who have the authority. We believ the LDS church is the only church on this earth who holds that authority. Show more Show less
