Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in Rural Alberta. I'm a wife, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, and recreation therapist. I'm Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in rural Alberta. It was tricky sometimes sticking to my values, but I have some life long friends who respect me for my values. I am a lucky wife, with one son (so far!). We love spending time together watching our boy grow. He is so full of life! I love to do a few things, including knitting, volleyball, soccer, watching a good show/movie, eating!, playing games. I went to school to be a Recreation Therapist. I worked in that field for about 8 years before having my baby, and adopting a new job; stay at home mom. It keeps me busy, and keeps me tired, but i wouldn't trade it for anything!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 15 years old, i had no intention of being an active member of the church. I was headed down an unrighteous path, making all sorts of bad decisions. It was also around the time when my parents were getting divorced and my older sibling were leaving the house for university. I developed some anxiety, and struggled with it for a while. One day, after feeling like there was no escape from my anxiety attacks, I tried giving my first ernest prayer to Heavenly Father asking if he was real, to help me escape the feelings of panic i was having. As soon as I finished praying, the anxiety left immediately. Ever since i have been unwavering, building upon my testimony, trying to learn more about the scriptures. This gospel is what keeps me directed in the way i need to be going. It keeps me grounded, and at peace. It makes me a better mother, and wife. Most importantly it makes me the person I have always wanted to be. I know it is the one and only true church on the earth today. Other churches may have some truth, but the Church of Latter Day Saints has the whole truth. I have investigated other churches and know this to be true. I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins. I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and communicates with me through the Holy Ghost. I know there is life after death, and that my family can be together forever. I love this church with all my heart, and I always will. I believe if you are brave enough to investigate and ask any questions, they will be answered. I did it and it has made me who I am today.

How I live my faith

I have had several calling within the church. I have worked in nursery, activities, and am currently a sunday school teacher. It is a great calling for me, because although i do have a testimony of the church, i don't have the amount of knowledge i would like. This calling is teaching me just as much (but probably more) as the people I am teaching. I think visiting teaching is such an important/fun calling to get to know the sister in your church. If you are looking for some friends, do your visiting teaching.
