Hi I'm Jake

I'm an avid musician, a student, a disciple of Christ, and a Mormon.

About Me

I love life! I love the light the gospel brings into every aspect of my life. I love music and the ability it has to bring out new sides in the listener and the player. I have played the Marimba for 6 years and the piano for 12. i love performing. I want to be a surgeon some day. I love science and i love people, being a surgeon would allow me to help people in fantastically personal and vital ways. I want that in a career. I want to be able to help people directly, not far away in an office or something like that. I was recently called to the Marshall Islands, Majuro mission and i have never been so excited about anything! I can't wait to become who the lord wants me, and needs me to become in order to further the work. Having a mission call has changed me in too many ways to speak of, all of which are good. I love being in a place where I can be an active participator in the gospel without any scrutiny, but i can't wait to defend what i believe "for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith". I am optimistic about my future when the gospel is involved.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but to assume that i was automatically converted would be false. Through a variety of experiences I have come to know that the lord's way is the easy way. People think that we miss out on a lot of fun things, but the truth is they are. By avoiding many of the things the world sees as "fun", i have been able to accomplish more than i ever dreamed i could at this point in my life. I am Mormon because i want to be. I am a member because i love my family, i love to love, and i love to feel as incredibly happy as i do on a daily basis. I have A LOT to learn about the gospel, but i know that what i know is true. The church is true, God is good, and Life is great.

How I live my faith

I try live my faith everyday in any way i can. I am lucky enough to have friends who have the same goals i have with the gospel. I love going to church functions in SLC, youth activities, and other things with them. I have an awesome ward and i love going to church! Being in a high school with mostly LDS students, it isn't too hard to keep standards high when you have so much support, but the real key is getting it when no one is watching. I love the personal relationship God maintains with each of us and the fact that as long I stay next to him, he stays next to me. Also, the temple is incredible, i go as often as i can because i am blessed enough to live so close to one!
