Hi I'm Eric

I am an eagle scout. I love biology & I have a pet parrot. I have 2 older brothers and a younger sister.

About Me

I'm the third child in a family of four. I have two older brothers and a younger sister. My oldest brother is on a mission in Chile and my next brother leaves soon on his mission to Ecuador. My dad died in a plane crash a little over a year ago. I love my family. I got my eagle scout at age 13. My project was redoing a shoot range in a conservation area. I love to shoot, fish, wakeboard and splunk. I enjoy reading and some of my favorite books are Percy Jackson, Ender's Game, the Hunger Games, and Eragon. I also like to write fantasy novels. I also enjoy hiking, camping and canoeing. I do a lot of yard work for my mom, so I'm a really hard worker. I am considering a career in the field of biology, but I'm not sure what yet. I really enjoy working with animals. I plan serving a mission when I graduate from high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the church, but I have prayed about the Book of Mormon and I know that it and this church are true. I felt the Holy Ghost tell me this. I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he received revelation and direction on how to translate the Book of Mormon and organize the church. I can also receive revelation for the things that God wants me to do. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. When I hear him speak, the spirit testifies to me that he is a prophet and what he is saying is true. I know that if I follow the teachings of the prophets that I will be blessed. That does not mean that I will have an easy life, but it means that I will have help through my trials. I know that trials are there to make me stronger so that I can resist the temptations of Satan and be ready to return to my Heavenly Father someday. I know that if I choose the right that my family can be together forever. That is one of the most important things to me now.

How I live my faith

Every morning before school I go to a scripture study class call seminary. It is just for the youth and it starts at 6:15, so I have to get up really early. It's a good spiritual way to start my day. I serve as first counselor over the boys age 14-15. We have presidency meeting to plan activities and how to help the boys in our group. I also visit families with an adult leader. Our job is to teach them a lesson, which I do a lot of the time, and to check on their needs. Even though I am just a teenager, I can be a good example and share my testimony. In school I don't swear and I don't smoke, drink alcohol or coffee. I try to set a good example and live my life like the Savior. Personally I read my scriptures and pray everyday. We read scriptures and pray as a family as well. I try to listen to the spirit so I know what I need to do. I know that I can pray and get answers from God. Being an eagle scout, I try to help younger scouts learn new things.
