Hi I'm Diana Petersen

I have been called to serve a mission in the Philippines with my husband. I love my family. I want to be with them forever.

About Me

As a professional landscape photographer I am in awe of the majesty, diversity, and beauty that God has created for us to enjoy. I can see why God said it was very good, after he was finished creating this earth. I have been remarried for 23 years and now have 7 children 6 who are living. I have 25 grandchildren. I will be a Great Grandmother soon, that will be an exciting chapter to my life story. I am getting ready to serve in the Philippines, Cavite Mission for 23 months. I am so excited to serve the people of the Philippines and the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that this church answers all the questions that are important. Who am I? Why I am here? What is my purpose here? How I can be really happy? and What happens after I die? I also believe that there is a living Prophet again on the earth today who receives revelation from God to direct His Church. I believe that Christ's Church has been restored in its fullness on the earth again. I believe the Bible to be the word of God. I also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. Every time I read the Book of Mormon, another testament of Christ, I receive a wittiness thru the Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon is true and was translated by Joseph Smith a Prophet of God with His help. I believe that the Holy Spirit has testified to me of these truths and I cannot deny that I know these things to be true.

How I live my faith

I have worked with the scouting program as a den mother, cub master and because I love to share my love of photography I am a photography merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts. I have helped with girls camp for many years helping girls learn outdoor skills. I love to camp, hike, fish and be in the outdoors. Because of my love of photography, I photographed the Las Vegas Temple and made a gift of the matted print to everyone in my congregation, so that every family could have a photograph of the temple in their home.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Diana Petersen
A Prophet of God who abridged many years of records of his people into a condensed version was called Mormon. Because he abridged these records he calls them the Book of Mormon. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is hard to identify us with this title so people started calling us Mormons because we believe in the ancient records called the "Book of Mormon" that were translated by the power of God. We don't worship Mormon who was a Prophet of God, We don't worship Joseph Smith who was a Prophet of God. We honor them as great men who were called of God. I am a Christian. So if you don't want to call me a Mormon call me a Christian. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Diana Petersen
No, we help who ever needs our help. The church partners with many organizations but they do it quietly. Red Cross, Food Pantries, Catholic Charities, Wheel chair donations, disaster relief. Have you ever seen a yellow shirt that says "Helping Hands" those volunteers are Mormons. As members we help who ever needs us. If you asked my friends and neighbors who are not Mormon they would say that I am always there to be of help when needed. When they ask why I do it, I just say. "Because that is what friends do." When we serve others we serve our God. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Diana Petersen
Even Jesus Christ sought out John the Baptist (who had been given the priesthood at the age of 8 days old) because he had the authority to baptize. The priesthood was lost to the world during the dark ages when the truth of God's word had been distorted and changed. That is why a restoration of the priesthood needed to happen, so we could be baptized with priesthood authority which came from God. Show more Show less
