Hi I'm Russ Barth

I grew up in Utah and had great parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm a husband and father of four children.

About Me

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons). My parents taught me from an early age about Jesus Christ and about Heavenly Father's plan of happiness for us. I was taught that true joy and happiness come from following the example of Jesus Christ and living His gospel. In the mid 90s, I served mission for the Mormon church in Northern England for two years. I learned a lot about myself and grew both spiritually and mentally. I met many wonderful people and had the opportunity to teach many the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the British people. In 1996, I married my High School sweetheart. We have a wonderful family. Our four children are the joy of our life. I'm a computer programmer. I enjoy fishing, reading, video games, and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church and Utah I kind of was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by default. I had many experiences growing up, however, that helped me to feel the influence of the Holy Ghost and helped me to gain my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I've gotten older and had my own family, the joy and happiness of living the gospel has only strengthened my testimony. If I were to say why I've chosen to continue to be a Mormon, I would have to say because I've had too many experiences in my life that have confirmed to me of the truthfulness of the teachings of the Mormon church. For example, when my children have questions about life, I'm able to answer them. I have had a great support from the church in raising them and the teachings and principles that our church teaches truly help families be closer together. One of the greatest truths that we know is that a husband and wife don't have to be married just until death. But through restored ordinances that are performed in our temples, a husband and wife can be married for time and all eternity and that the family unit we enjoy in this life will continue forever. This puts a different perspective on how you approach your marriage and raise your children. Finally, I have a great love of my savior Jesus Christ. The Mormon church has additional scripture that teaches, alongside The Bible, Jesus' gospel. This is the Book of Mormon. Through these holy scriptures I have learned about His Atonement for me and how through His Grace I am saved. I know He took upon Him all of our sins and troubles. He died on the cross, and on the third day, arose from the dead and was resurrected. This allows everyone who ever lived to be resurrected. And by following His example and living as He did we can also return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father. All he asks is that we exercise faith in him, repent, and follow his example and be baptized.

How I live my faith

In the church I have had been many opportunities to serve. I currently serve with other men in our local congregation in a men's organization of about fifty men that focuses on how to help men be better husbands and fathers and to learn how to be more like Jesus Christ.
