Hi I'm Makenna Hawkes

I love my family, music, outdoors and life. I love this gospel, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in a wonderful home where my parents took care of my brother, sister and me. We've done fostering in the past and I now claim 13 more wonderful children as my brothers and sisters! I love to be out in the mountains, and my life revolves around finding the beauty of God's gifts to us through the creation of this earth. I love photography for that reason, and I strive to do the best I can to show that love it to others. I also love music, it is a beautiful form of praise to Him, our Father in Heaven, and it has helped my testimony develop. And because of that testimony I have dedicated 18 months of my life to serve in the South Dakota, Rapid City Mission! (Soon to be the North Dakota, Bismark Mission.) I love the beauty in life, no matter where it comes from.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a rough time in my life where my family became inactive. We didn't follow the commandments, and we didn't go to church. I thought our life was great, and that we were happy; but I eventually discovered that I wasn't. I was missing something in my life, and when I found the missing piece, it was found in the gospel. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has lifted me through the darkest times of my life, and pulled me forward to help me begin to achieve greatness. I have become who I am today, someone willing to do social workings and share my talents, because of the gospel. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

How I live my faith

I have been in a few callings in my ward at home, some include a primary teacher and the ward chorister. In college, I was also called as the women's social/welcoming leader for the women in our church. I do my best to participate in the service that the church puts together, and I willingly talk to those who ask me to, and I would gladly be someone to rely on. My biggest goal is that I can be an example of the believers, through my words and actions. As of right now, I am gladly serving in the South Dakota, Rapid City Mission; and I am loving every moment.

What is faith?

Makenna Hawkes
Faith is having the courage to trust the unseen. Faith is following the things you know are true, and following them as they guide you forward. You have to be willing to trust God, knowing that you may not see Him, but also knowing He will answer; so long as you seek for it. He gives nothing unless there is an effort made. Begin with trust, follow it with seeking for truth and light, and never give up fighting for knowledge. Faith is the trust of things not seen, but felt. Show more Show less
