Hi I'm Elizabeth Olsen

I'm 81, from Canada, and serving a mission in Nauvoo Illinois for 18 months.

About Me

I love music, art, drama, family history, people, teaching and social gatherings. I have previously served missions in Canada, and four and a half years in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. I that time I have met many wonderful people. I have learned to help others search out their family trees. It is a wonderful rewarding activity. I love to travel and see the world. I love the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who were members of the Mormon church and taught me about God and I have found it to be a guiding influence in my life. It gives me so many chances to serve others. It helps me in my life decisions. It encourages me to reach out to serve others in the church and community. I have had opportunities to work with choirs and as a ward organist, teach classes, serve in the Cardston Alberta Temple and serve as a missionary. I have also been served by many. When my husband was killed by a drunken driver at the age of 35 many many people reached out to me and my five little children and blessed our lives in so many ways. My faith in the Lord was what helped me through that challenge. Many others helped me survive that trial. Through prayer and faith in God I have been richly blessed. I know he hears and answers prayers. I know he has guided my life. As I study the scriptures and pray I receive guidance in my daily affairs. I am grateful for a church led by a prophet of God, who helps guide us through a troubled world filled with many many choices and challenges.

How I live my faith

I am thrilled to be a missionary here because it means there is room in my church for people of all ages to give service. I have been blessed with good health and feel there is no better way to use it than serving the Lord at this time. I was an elementary educator for 20 years, also teaching music. I have five children, 26 grandchildren and presently 25 grandchildren. Three of my grandchildren are presently serving missions as well. My family is of great importance to me.
