Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Sandy, Utah. I graduated from the University of Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired cattle rancher and I also taught history for 32 years. I have two wonderful children and six grandchildren. I like to build furniture and have a wonderful woodshop. I like to fly fish and golf. I am trying to get better at both. I enjoy BYU sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I had wonderful ancestors who accepted the gospel. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He died for me so that I can return to live with Him someday. My testimony is that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father and He has given us prophets in these latter days to guide us in righteousness.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my church. I enjoy going to church and feeling the love of those around me. I look for opportunities to be of service and help others.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was the creator of this earth. Jesus came to earth over 2,000 years ago and established His church on the earth. He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross for us. This is called the Atonement and because of the Atonement we can be forgiven of our sins when we truly repent. We celebrate the resurrected Christ and look forward to the time when we can be reunited as families. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is perfect and the ruler of the universe. He is kind and loves His children very much. We were created in His image. He has a body of flesh and bones like us but God's body is perfected and has a glory that words can't describe. He has a plan for us, His children, to return and life with Him someday. Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

In the spring of 1820, a young man named Joseph Smith prayed to know what church was true. There were so many different churches he was confused. When he pray, two heavenly beings answered his prayer. They told him none of the churches were true and told him that he was to restore Christ's church to the earth. Later, he was visited by other heavenly messengers and translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. The Church of Jesus Christ was organized on April 6th,1830 , and is on the earth today.
