Hi I'm Shannon

I grew up in Anacortes, Washington. I am a dancer, I love to play the piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am about to finish my junior year at college and I'm majoring in Human Development. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old and one of my favorite things to do is play duets with my sisters. I am an avid reader and I love to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am a child of God. I was raised in the church, but I still had to find this out for myself. All growing up, I remember hearing stories of people that prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. When I was about 13 years old, I decided to do the same thing. So one night, I got down on my knees and prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true; before I even finished the thought, I had the words roll through my mind, "you already know." And it was true. I didn't need to ask if the Book of Mormon was true, because I had already felt its truthfulness in the many times I had read from it. One of the reasons I continue to follow His gospel is because I know that it will make me happy and I know our Father in Heaven wants what's best for me. Many of the Church's teachings, including the Word of Wisdom, staying out of debt, avoiding addiction, are all things that will keep my life going in the direction I want it to. I know that following the prophets will make me happy. This does not mean that I will be exempt from trials and hardships in my life, but it makes it so that I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter what I may be going through, I know as I live the principles of His gospel and the commandments laid out by the prophets and apostles, I will be happy. And one day, I will be able to live with Heavenly Father and my family for time and all eternity.

How I live my faith

I am currently one of my ward's Sacrament pianist/chorister. A few times I month, I get the opportunity to play prelude as well as the hymns for Sacrament Meeting. I am currently involved in a Family History class and have been working on finding names on my family tree to take to the temple.
