Hi I'm Aly

I grew up near New York City, I'm a Vegetarian. I love languages. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am studying German at my university as well as keeping up on my Italian. I grew up a little north of New York City with my family close by. I love spending time playing games and exploring nature with my brother and cooking with my mom. In my spare time I love baking, experimenting in the kitchen, and trying new things. One of my favorite things in life is walking through the grass barefoot or reading a good book in the sun. I have been a vegetarian for almost four years, and some of that time was spent being a vegetarian while abroad in Italy. Although I don't have any musical talent, I love singing along to the radio in the car.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18 I realized I was missing something in my life: God. Have been raised as a Christian, I knew that Jesus was the Christ and was my savior. However, I didn't know which church was His church. Growing up I went to many different Christian churches, but never for very long. I heard a few things about Mormons, but never really knew the whole thing. In my first semester of college a girl in my history class started talking about her religion and she was LDS. I was curious and asked her a few questions and soon everyday before class started I would talk to her a little more. She eventually suggested I look at Mormon.org because there were a lot of resources available online. I read almost everything in the FAQ and watched nearly every "I'm a Mormon" video. I eventually went to church and was greeted by so many friendly faces. The atmosphere of the church was so welcoming. I returned the next week and the week after and soon every week after that. The missionaries started teaching me the lessons and I soon realized the truth of the Church. I prayed and decided to be baptized. As I grew closer to Christ, I grew closer to my family and became part of an even bigger family in the Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Christ's example. I love to serve others by cooking or baking for them, or simply bringing a smile to someone's face anyway I can. Attending church weekly allows me to not only learn more about the gospel, but it gives me the opportunity to connect with other young adults of my faith. We plan service projects to help the poor, volunteer our time at various organizations, and help improve our community.
