Hi I'm Dawna

I was born and raised in Utah. I've been through two cancer threats, both benign. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love to learn new things. My range of hobbies is quite broad. I sow, knit, read, write, enjoy listening to all genres of music, watching movies, etc. I always try to challenge myself with constantly learning whether it be about history or learning a new form of art such as calligraphy. I also like to have fun, as do most my age.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know for myself it was true. I had doubts and even a desire to leave the church when I was younger, but I persisted to find out if it was true or not. My answer did not come instantly. I prayed every day, that I remembered to, but made sure to at least pray every Sunday asking the same question. Was this book true? I did this over the course of two months and it was through the humble testimony of a friend during Fast and Testimony meeting that I received my answer. In that moment as my friend bore testimony of the Book of Mormon and the prophet Joseph Smith, I knew without a doubt that the Book of Mormon was true. I felt such a peaceful warmth come over me unlike anything I have ever felt before. From that day forward, I continued to strengthen my testimony through trial after trial. Some where much harder than others, but all strengthened me. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ. He and Heavenly Father have been with me through every trial and I know They will be with me for the rest of my life. I could never deny the truth I know in my heart. This, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is the one true church. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

My faith has made me who I am today. With out my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ I don't know where I would be. The LDS church has helped me grow so much. Thanks to my callings as a secretary (three times), second counselor (twice) and first counselor (once) I have developed lasting leadership traits that have helped me so much out of church. I've taught as a substitute for Sunday school classes and taught children in the primary which has made me very confident speaking to any age group from elderly to teenagers. I love how there are so many opportunities to be involved even when you don't hold a calling. There are always opportunities to serve others.
