Hi I'm Ally Vande Merwe

I am an English daisy, a domestic abuse survivor, a believer in happy endings; and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love watching old movies and listening to old music. :) I love to sing, swim, and spend time outdoors. :) I am working towards getting accepted into nursing school and joining the Peace Corps. :) I am currently serving as an ordinance worker in the Boise Temple; and I LOVE it!! I recently returned from serving as a missionary in London, England. I may be an American, but my heart belongs to England. I seriously LOVED being a missionary and I strive every day to continue the work I was called to! It is amazing to see what the Lord can do with you when you put all of your heart, might, mind, and strength into His work!! Deciding to serve a mission was the best decision I have ever made in my life!! Not only has it led to many other great things in my life, but it has taught who I am and who I should be in good and bad times. All I've ever wanted is to make a difference in this world with the help of my Savior. The Savior is who I long and strive to be like.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had too many sacred experiences to deny my love for the Saviour. I have also witnessed too many miracles to deny the gospel of Jesus Christ. Working in the temple has brought me closer to my Saviour. I feel Him everywhere I go! He has been with me in some of the darkest moments of my life. He has never left me!

How I live my faith

My favourite way to live my faith is by befriending others EVERYWHERE I go. Making sure that everyone around me knows that they are a Child of God is a priority for me! I LOOOOOOVE leaving places and people better than I found them!! I live my faith by trying to be the most Christ like person I can be. "Those who love Christ the most, will be the most like Him." -President Ezra Taft Benson I live my faith by testifying everywhere I go through acts of service and kindness. I live my faith by smiling every moment! I strive to live a bright and cheerful life, so that others feel joy as well!! I live my faith by being positive and seeing the sunshine in every situation! I live my faith by never giving up on someone. :) Yes, I know that there are people only the Savior can help, BUT, there is no sense in ignoring those people and instead showing them some tender lovin! LOVE EVERYONE!! Not only the people who are easy to love, but absolutely everyone!!! :)

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Ally Vande Merwe
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's believes in marriage to be between a man and a woman. But, a married couple of the same gender or someone who is attracted to the same gender are still Children of God. No matter what the world says about same sex marriage being okay or not okay, EVERYONE is still a Child of God. And we all, as Children of God, face decisions in life! Getting an education is a very important decision that we all must make in life and sometimes can be a struggle. It is the same with our sexual orientation! It's all of our decision!! Heavenly Father has given us our agency so that we may make our own decisions! :) And sometimes, we do struggle with what decision to make... But, it doesn't mean that if we struggle with our decisions and sometimes make wrong decisions, that we are a bad person!! Heavenly Father knows our struggles and knows our trials. That is why He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father knew there would be struggles in decisions in this life, such as being attracted to the same gender, so He allowed His Son to suffer and die for ALL our pain, not just our sins, but EVERY ounce of pain and EVERY bad day and EVERY struggle with decisions we have ever had in our life, including not knowing who we are attracted!! And if this answer isn't enough, I would just say.... GOD LOVES YOU!!!! :) :) :) Show more Show less
