Hi I'm Katie

I am a well-loved, adopted child. I support animal rights and advocate environmental concerns. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Katie. I was adopted at the age of eight with my three siblings after living in foster care for several years, and since then I, along with my family, have traveled America and have moved several times. I have a thirst for knowledge, and especially enjoy reading classic, ancient Persian, and modern poetry. I participate in theatre and I play guitar, and I try my hand at writing; I am passionately in love with music, particularly with the indie and folk genres. I have a strong desire to find ways to protect the earth, ensure equality, and protect animals (domestic or otherwise), as anyone who has heard me go off on long-winded speeches knows.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and purity I feel touch my soul when I learn of the doctrine of the Church. I am a Mormon because for the most part I grew up as a Mormon, and even through study of other religions and faiths (and the absence of both), I have felt truth burn clearly in my mind in contemplation of the teachings of this church. I am a Mormon because no other church that I have experienced has left me with such an indelible impression that love and family is paramount to all else. I am a Mormon because the doctrine gives me hope, gives me solidity in an ever-changing world.

How I live my faith

I serve as a leader in the young women's organization. I try to be a kind, trustworthy, open-minded, and honorable person as I travel along in life; I look to people I greatly respect for examples to help me. I am not afraid to ask questions in order to know why I am supposed to do the things I am asked and commanded. I work to find ways to increase happiness in the world and joy in the lives of those around me, most especially in doing small things to serve those I know.
