Hi I'm Brody

Utah Born. Microbiology/Chemistry/Pre-med student @ WSU. Hippie. Hiker. Runner. Tennis. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a junior in college where I am majoring in Microbiology/Chemistry with an emphasis in Pre-Medicine. I have decided to put my studies on hold for two years so that I can serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In my spare time I really enjoy spending time with family and friends around a dinner table and having conversations that are full of laughter. Some of my hobbies include: tennis, reading, running, hiking, and sketching.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I was pretty involved with the Gospel and attended church on a regular basis, but as time went on I somehow found myself going to church less and less until finally I was completely inactive in the church. I had let my life get so busy and chaotic that I forgot what my purpose was here on earth. As I was preparing to take the M-CAT, I kept having this strange feeling that something was missing in my life. After much self-searching and spiritual growth I realized that 'thing' was the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the constant companion (the Holy Ghost) that comes with it. It was after experiencing these feelings that I decided it was time for me to return to church and start living the way my Heavenly Father would want me to. From attending my church meetings on a regular basis and reading my scriptures, I have also decided that it was time for me to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So I am currently preparing to serve in the Scotland/Ireland Mission, where I will be teaching the Gospel in the Mandarin Chinese language. With the chaotic world that we live in I feel as though we sometimes beat ourselves down to the point where we feel inadequate and unworthy of love. After studying the Book of Mormon and praying I have come to know that God, our Heavenly Father, loves each and every single one of us. Out of PURE love He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so that every one of us would have the opportunity to live with Him again. I also know that the Prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and through his faith in Jesus Christ he was able to restore Christ's church here on earth. The feelings that I feel while studying the scriptures and praying is one of true happiness. I know that if anyone sincerely reads the Book of Mormon with an open heart and prays to our Heavenly Father, they too will be able to feel the same happiness that I have felt.

How I live my faith

Submitting my mission papers was probably the biggest leap of faith I have ever made in my life. I was getting so close to accomplishing my goal of going to medical school, when I finally decided it was time to serve a mission. When I finally received my call in the mail and read that I would be serving in the Scotland/Ireland Mission speaking Mandarin Chinese, I knew in my heart that is where I was meant to be. Although it is going to be rough trying to pick up where I left off when I return home from my mission, I know that I am going to be more spiritually strong and have a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father. Which will help me become a better, more understanding physician.
