Hi I'm Allen

I'm a family physician, a father, a singer, a star gazer, and I just started running. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I am a graduate with a degree in Chemistry from Weber State University and attended Medical School at the University of Utah. My wife and I have 6 wonderful children who are all very successful students. I have always enjoyed the out doors and love bird watching, gardening, camping and astronomy. In the past 15 years I have tried coaching, refereeing and playing soccer, and most recently started running with my brothers. I have been involved with choirs since high school and am currently the director for our ward choir. I have a medical practice in family medicine and enjoy taking care of patients of all ages and with all diseases.

Why I am a Mormon

I cannot recall a moment when I did not have total faith in the reality of a living Savior Jesus Christ and the visitation of Him and His Father to the boy Joseph Smith. Just as I started my mission to Oregon I recall a prayer where I asked for a confirmation of this testimony. I recall the strongest feeling that I already knew this truth. It burned in my mind and heart and has been solid knowledge ever since. In all of my scientific training I have never encountered a single lesson, piece of data or theory that has ever thrown a shred of doubt on my belief in the divinity of my Father in Heaven and his Son Jesus and in the great Plan of Creation. The more that I learn, the more I know that there is a divine set of laws that direct how things are done in the universe to create life and our current home here on Earth. As I look up at the stars I marvel at the order that exists in the heavens. I have no doubts about my relationship to my father in Heaven. I know He lives and loves us all. I will work through my life to serve him with all of my heart and soul with my lovely wife at my side.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the church all of my life. My ancestors have been members for several generations. At age eight I was baptized. I recall my father ordaining me to the priesthood when I turned twelve and I can remember home teaching with him often. I have been involved with Boy Scouting ever since. I had the opportunity to serve a mission to the great state of Oregon where I learned that nothing can dampen the spirit of happy members and investigators. My wife and I met and then married in the Salt Lake Temple. I have been a cub scout leader, sunday school teacher, young mens instructor, executive secretary, choir member and now the choir director. I have had the opportunity to sing in 2 sessions of general conference and at the commemoration of the BSA-LDS church centennial celebration.
