Hi I'm Kyle Ringen

I grew up in Kamiah Idaho on a small ranch. I am serving a full-time mission in Gilbert Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outdoors and see God's creations. My favorite sport is wrestling, because it taught me how to work hard for something I wanted to achieve. I like to learn about technology and history. Most of all, I love being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and I've found that it has helped me a lot throughout my entire life. I've come to know that there is a living Prophet on the Earth today who leads Christ's church. Following the Prophet and learning about Christ's life from the scriptures has helped me understand who I am, a child of a loving Heavenly Father, and that His Son Jesus Christ lives. Being a Mormon has brought a lot of happiness into my life. I know that as I continue down this path I will get to live with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in my church. Which means I leave home for two years to tell people about Jesus Christ's restored church. I know that serving a mission is the best thing I can possibly be doing with my life right now.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Kyle Ringen
I know the Bible is the word of God because I read from it regularly and the feelings I have when I read it tell me that it is good. I have learned a lot from studying the Bible about Jesus Christ. I have come closer to the Savior because of the Bible and anything that helps me come closer to the Savior must be from God. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Kyle Ringen
There are many people who have lived on the Earth that havn't had the opportunity to be baptized by proper authority. We know from the scriptures that it's required for our salvation to be baptized. We also know that God loves all of His children and wants the best for each of us, so He has provided a way for everyone to receive the blessing of being baptized. The only way to make it fair for everyone is to do baptisms for the dead, which is done in the temple by a living person taking the place of their deceased friend. Anyone that has already died chooses to accept or reject the baptism that the living person did for them. It is not forced upon them at all. I love serving other people and doing baptisms for the dead is one of the best and most rewarding ways to serve others. Everytime I get done doing this work in the temple I feel like I made a difference in the world that day. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Kyle Ringen
A ward is a geographical area where there are enough members to make a congregation at a meetinghouse. The members are to help each other both physically and spiritually and help others that are not members of our church. A Bishop is the leader of a ward and serves voluntarily to help the ward. A stake is also a geographical area, but includes several wards. A branch is very similar to a ward. It just has a fewer amount of members in it. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Kyle Ringen
Some of the blessings that I have seen from scripture study is a better understanding of God's will. I know about the commandments He has given His children in the past and what happens to them when they are obedient or not. I have also found that as I read more, my desire to learn increases and I have more joy in my everyday life. My faith in Christ has increased from studying as well by learning about His life. I know that studying the scriptures can help anyone come closer to God. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kyle Ringen
The way that I have come to know God the best is simply by praying to him. I've found that when I pray to Him as if I am actually having a conversation with another person I often feel like someone is there listening to me. And that feeling is confirmed as I see my prayers answered either through thoughts that come to my mind or experiences that happen later on. I know Heveanly Father is always there for each of us and wants to answer our prayers. But the only way he can do so, is if we first take the time to ask Him the questions we have in our hearts. Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Kyle Ringen
Only some Mormons are allowed in temples because one must be worthy and ready to enter. God has always had specific requierments for His children for entering temples. The things we do in temples are very sacred and help us understand God's plan for us more fully. We make promises with God and participate in ordinances that allow us to progress and live with our families forever. We also are able to help others that havn't recieved these ordinances for themselves like doing baptisms for those that have already passed on. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Kyle Ringen
The Book of Mormon takes place mostly in the Americas while the Bible takes place in the Middle East. They are both scripture and help us understand the will of God and testify of Christ. Joseph Smith got the plates as directed by a heavenly messenger named Moroni, who is one of the prophets in the Book of Mormon. Moroni told Joseph the plates were buried in a hill and that they had the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph translated the plates into English by the inspiration of God. The Book of Mormon has a promise in it that says if you read it and sincerely pray about it, then you can know by the Holy Ghost that it us true. That is how I found out it is true. Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Kyle Ringen
Members of the church are called by inspiration from God to serve in specific ways in the church. For example a Bishop is the leader of a ward and is responsible to help all the people that live within the geographical boundries of that ward. But he is not paid for his service. We as members have promised God that we will help other people and we know that He will both bless us for our service and provide a way for us to do what He has asked. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Kyle Ringen
Women don't hold the priesthood because that is the way God has it. In the Old Testament we learn that for a time only a certian group of men were aloud to hold the priesthood which were the Levites. God has always set specific terms for those that hold the priesthood. Women in the church are not any lower than men but are equals. They do a great service by leading and participating in the womens group called the Relief Society which was established to help those in need. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Kyle Ringen
God is our Heavenly Father and has a body of flesh and bone. We were made in His image. But His body is immortal and He is perfect. We cannot fully comprehend God. He knows all. He is all-powerful and loves each of His children in a way that we can't understand. Because of this love, He wants each of us to be happy and we can do that by being obedient to His commandments which will allow us to eventually live with Him again. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Kyle Ringen
Since the beginning of man, God has always given prophets authority to act in His name, which is called the priesthood. This authority binds on Earth and in Heaven (see Matthew 18:18). So it's important for one to be baptized by this authority for the baptism to be bound not only in this life, but in the life to come. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Kyle Ringen
We believe that families are one of the most important priorities we have in this life because we know that families can live together forever. It is only by accepting and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we are able to receive that great blessing. Knowing this gives me a lot of comfort when a loved one dies. I know that everyone else can have this same comfort and joy by accepting Jesus Christ and following His commandments. Show more Show less

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Kyle Ringen
God has commanded His people to practice plural marriage in the Old Testament and in modern days during the 1800's. We will only practice it if God commands it to be done. In 1890 God told us that we should stop practicing plural marriage, just as He has done in past times. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Kyle Ringen
The Word of Wisdom is a health law that helps us keep our bodys strong and and our minds clear. In the Word of Wisdom we are commanded to not use tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, coffee, or tea. We are also supposed to practice good eating habbits and we are promised that great physical and spiritual blessing if we follow this law. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Kyle Ringen
The reason why we dont use coffee, tea, or alcohol, is because of a health law called the Word of Wisdom which was given to Joseph Smith the prophet. It includes abstaining from tobacco and any illegal drugs as well. We know that our bodies are gifts given to us by God and He wants us to take good care of them so that we can perform all the labors we have in this life unhindered. He gave us the Word of Wisdom to help us receive the blessings He wants to give us. By following this commandment I have found that my mind is always clear and my body is always physically able to do the things I need to do in my every day life. Show more Show less
