Hi I'm Joshua Adam Garvin

I grew up in the beautiful valley of Elko Nevada! I love the out doors and sports. I love LIFE and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

jumping out of a plane, snowboarding the slopes, snorkeling, cycling, soccer Ultimate Frisbee, any sport real or anything with outside i love and will do! Growing up in a small town has helped the inner boy come out in me. I spent and spend much time outdoors, even tho i am a student. I am studying Exercise Science hoping to become a Chiropractor in a few years! I still manage to spend time in nature with my beautiful wife and awesome freinds. School is hard work but being married has helped me a ton. Being recently married I am loving every opportunity that it presents. I have grown a lot and look forward to growing even more. I love to be active, if you couldn't tell, and am working at a Tri-fecta spartan race medal. To all you spartans out there Aroo! I served a mission in Italy and love the Italian language and italian people!

Why I am a Mormon

There are many religions throughout the world that i am learning about and respect for the goodness and truth that they the members have. I am a Mormon because i made a choice to put the evidence to the test. I grew up in this Church but it came to the point where i couldn't ride on my Parents knowledge/faith/testimony. So as i had been taught and had been explained to me by many people, i decided to read the Book of Mormon for my self. During and after i finished i prayed and asked God if the things i read were true. For the first three times i didn't feel or receive anything. It was later as i was preparing to go to church when i was reading a magazine that talked about the Book of Mormon that i felt this "electricity" this warmth feeling pulse through my body. In my mind came the thoughts "it is true!" I didn't have any visions nor have i. But from that Moment on i knew that The Book Of Mormon was and is True! that it Contains the word of God. We can apply it in our lives. I continue to be a Mormon because of the Perspective it gives me in Life. As a growing young man life often seems bleak and dismal. However with a knowledge that i have gained through study and prayer, i Know that things are going to work out all right. I don't have all the answers but i have enough to help me keep on going and you can receive this same knowledge and have peace and happiness now during this life. In this world that has both exquisite beauty, and engulfing evil. You can choose. I did and it was the best choice of my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my Faith by the way that i live my life! I try my hardest to not judge others and to listen and try to help where i can. My relationship with our Heavenly Father (God) is personal for me and can be for you too. I spent time on my knees in prayer and spend time studying his Words. I feel this spirit and am rejuvenated as i attend his House not only the Church every sunday but also in His Holy Temples. It is a time of reflection, learning, and growth. Music, i am no Josh Groban warn you, is another way i feel peace and Gods spirit. We sing with others in praising God. Some of my favorites are the songs that the children learn and sing. Once such song is seeing and feeling Gods love in the World around us. Its why i love being outside in nature. I feel Gods love for me. I am not perfect and thanks to the Sacrifice of our Savior i can be better everyday and become more like him by treating others the way Jesus would treat them. Tho its hard i try my best everyday and this is how i am trying to live my Faith.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Joshua Adam Garvin
For me temples are like the Lords Universities. Just like in real school a 1st grader can't understand all the things taught in a college university. So there is a step to prepare a student to enter a university. It is the same with the Temples. They are places were we go to learn. We learn about sacred covenants we can make with God. We learn to find answers to prayers, peace to our troubles, wisdom and choices we should make and how to be better spouses, parents, siblings, and people. I love the Temple and if you get an opportunity to go to an Open house where all may come and tour the Temple I implore you to go and pay attention to what you feel! Show more Show less
