Hi I'm Kristin Queen Garvin

I grew up in sunny southeast Florida. I am training for a Spartan Race. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports and being outside. I played basketball in the east my whole life through college. When I transferred out west to finish up my Bachelor's in Exercise and Wellness, it was a big transition. But overall, I found that I loved it! I graduated about 1 year ago now, and am working full-time while my husband finishes up his degree. I am a Personal Trainer, and love seeing the results of people's efforts whether I am directly or indirectly related to them! I love being active and play almost any kind of sport that I'm able to- basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, swimming! I definitely prefer to be somewhere warm and in the sun (preferably close to the ocean), where I can relax and enjoy the creations around me. I can also be pretty competitive when it comes to games :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a disciple of Christ. I learned for myself that this church is true and has the restored gospel that was on the Earth previously. When I was younger, I went to church because that is what we were supposed to do. One day during a summer at Girl's Camp, I had the opportunity to read uplifting material and pray personally to our Heavenly Father. When I did this, I immediately had a sense of His immense love for me and how invested He is in me. I KNEW (and know now) that I am a daughter of God who He is always refining to become better. My relationship is personal with God, and His light truly shines through in my life where I can be grateful for what I have and see the MANY blessings He has given to me. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God of the ancient people on the American continent, because God loves ALL of His children. I am comforted to know that His plan is one of happiness for me and my family.

How I live my faith

I have done many things to show how I live my faith- from teaching classes in church to just helping someone that I see in need. As of right now, my husband and I have volunteered to speak in church as the main part of the meeting about our Savior, Jesus Christ's atonement. I also visit people within my ward to see how they are doing and to share a message of encouragement with them! This is probably my favorite part. I also try to volunteer as much as I can for any service that is needed among the members of the ward and/or the community. The biggest and hardest thing that I am working on, which is probably the simplest, is just responding quickly to feel a need when I see one. Hopefully this translates into all of my daily actions and habits.
