Hi I'm Rexx Hurley

I grew up in rural Tennessee. I'm a gamer. I'm a rider. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in the California Rancho Cucamonga mission. I entered the MTC on April 9th 2014, and no matter how long I'm out I will always feel like a newbie. I am constantly striving to learn and grow in the Gospel so that I can help others understand the concepts and come to know they are true as I have. Through mighty prayer, personal revelation, and hours upon hours of scripture study, I feel I am starting to get a small grasp on Christ's restored Gospel. Before my mission I loved being with those I love, though as a kid I was pretty hardcore into gaming. I still hold fast to my roots in the videogame culture, but I rarely participate myself anymore unless it is with family or friends. When not hanging or gaming, I love riding my motorcycle; I have a Harley Sportster 1200 cc and it's my baby! My parents and I are the riders in our family, and I couldn't ask for a better bonding activity. I am a huge Star Wars nerd and movie buff as well, though I generally just love whatever movie I'm currently watching and everything about Star Wars. Let's just say I spent way too much time on Wookieepedia in middle school! I still want to be a Jedi when I grow up. I'm a huge fan of the company Roosterteeth! I watch almost every video they put out, especially Achievement Hunter. I also have plans to get into skydiving once I get back home, I've gotten my feet wet with a single jump and I love it already. I can't wait to do more!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes sense to me. I was born into the church and I've kind of always believed the Gospel to be true, so I'm afraid I don't have this super awesome conversion experience, it was a sort of creeping, slow testimony that just snuck up on me and one day I realized I knew it was true. It took me until my mission to finally get that realization, but now that I have that testimony it is something I can never deny nor put down. Living in the Bible belt of the South, there's a church on every street corner. Being surrounded by so much confusion and different pastors of different sects all shouting different things would be incredibly confusing if I wasn't a member of the LDS church. Knowing the Gospel, seeing the sense it makes and the truths and teachings of love it contains is such a comfort to me when I see all these people around me so lost with their lives. Turning to drugs, sex, or alcohol to cope with the stresses of live, not knowing who they are or what they are here for. Almost every question that keeps them up at night I am able to have answered by the Gospel. Honestly, if I were not Mormon I would be agnostic. I could never deny there is God; he has done too much in my life and made his presence known to me in too many ways for me to try to say he does not exist. But experiencing the confusion of life without the Gospel through my friends, listening to the half truths and misunderstandings they are taught. I could not live with that. I'm a Mormon because it's the only church that makes sense to me.

How I live my faith

So I got that calling! I am living my faith by serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Christ's true church restored on the earth once again. I am working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year for two years to bring those in the Southern California area to Christ. Be that through Baptism, community service, or whatever other means I can. That is my primary goal and main focus of my life right now. I also like to believe that I live my faith in the best way, which is through example. When you are a true disciple of Christ, there is a noticeable change in you. People that see you can see that, and especially those who knew you before you had the change can see. This is how I hope to spread the Gospel the best. Along with talking to every living soul I see and offering to them what has made my life so great now. But the second one is still a work in progress haha.
