Hi I'm Mark Plehn

I grew up in Southern California, but now live in Utah, USA. I’m married and have seven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho, but raised in Southern California. I’ve lived on the west coast, the east coast, in Texas, Kansas, Utah, Germany, and South Africa. I graduated with a degree in German from BYU and served a mission in Germany. I spent 27 years in law enforcement and worked as a fraud investigator and trainer for an additional 10 years after retiring from the FBI. I spend most of my time doing family history research and watching BYU sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen a lot and experienced much. The one great constant in my life has been my testimony that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. I have received a personal witness through the Holy Ghost that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, and that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth to prepare the way for Jesus Christ to come again upon the earth. Membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me great joy and provided me with much opportunity to serve others. Without the Church experience I my focus would probably be more inward, but because of my experiences in the Church, I am interested in other people and their happiness. I know God is a loving Father who has a plan of happiness for His children. He is intimately involved in the lives of His children. I appreciate the many manifestations of His love which I have received. In particular, I appreciate the wonderful spirit I feel when reading the Book of Mormon, a sacred testimony of Jesus Christ as is the Bible.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is an expression of my love for my Heavenly Father and His Son. I strive to be obedient. I look for ways to help others and I volunteer when there is service to be rendered. I have served two full-time missions and two part-time missions. I am currently serving as a family history consultant and I volunteer one day a week at a family history library. I also teach adults in my local ward. I thank Heavenly Father every single day for His blessings and mercy. There is much room for improvement in my life. I need to follow the Savior’s supreme example of patience and humility. I know with His help I can become more like Him.
