Hi I'm James Clark

I'm a Mormon who's preparing to serve the people of Turkey on a full time mission.

About Me

I'm 20, and just within the past year I have gotten my life in order, and had a change of heart. I'm currently preparing to serve a full time mission in Turkey. I love basketball, football, working out, and music. Before I decided to serve a mission I was attending university.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I truly want to be. I grew up in the religion so as a kid I could tribute my membership to my parents, but now I can honestly say that it is my heart's desire to be a latter day saint. This religion brings me such joy. I didn't really know I wasn't truly happy until I rediscovered the gospel not too long ago and truly lived it's standards. You cannot know the bitter without the sweet; you cannot be happy without first knowing misery. My personal conversion I should say was similar to Alma the younger's. I was a member but I never lived the church standards; I had always thought the religion to be true, but I never really knew for sure until I opened up the Book of Mormon and read. It took a metaphysical slap on the head for me to straighten my life out and start living the gospel. I had a dramatic change of heart just like Alma and the sons of Mosiah. Next I had the strong desire to share the gospel, just like the sons of Mosiah and Alma did. I'm a Mormon because I know without a doubt that this religion is true. I know that through this gospel I can live with Heavenly Father again, and that my family can be together forever in eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing small and simple things like praying and reading my scriptures, which consequently leads to even greater things. After all, Alma once said "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." These tasks may seem redundant or cliche, but they truly help you become closer to our Father in Heaven, and influence the choices you make throughout your day. Currently, I am a Sunday school teacher for the Valliant 9's. I love teaching them so much because I not only build their faith and knowledge, but my own every time I teach them. I am currently preparing to serve a full-time mission in Turkey, and I leave in April. I think one of the best ways I can give back to Jesus Christ for the sacrifice he made for all of us, is by sacrificing two years of my own life for the Lord. I actually don't even think it to be a sacrifice; I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to bring others unto Christ, and let them feel the joy that I feel. Living this gospel is not a once a week thing. It is an everyday, 365 days a year thing. We need to strive everyday to be as Christ-like, and faithful as we can.
