Hi I'm Melissa Martin

I am a college student. I am getting married in the fall, and I am passionate about service.

About Me

I am currently a Married woman who is attending an LDS school and I love it. I was a cheerleader all throughout high school and I was an all-star cheerleader for about 7 years. I passionate about the arts, I was in choir from fourth grade to my junior year of high school, and I was in a handful of plays and musicals. I love my husband and I am so grateful for the blessings in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the church one year after I attended college at a Nazarene University. I had, the previous year, looked into becoming a member but I didn't really diligently seek after the truth, I just sort of wen't through the motions. Then after a rough first year of college the Lord called me back to his truths. I diligently read the Book of Mormon, and not only that but before I would read I would sincerely and humbly ask for God to share with me whether it was true or not. I read the Book of Mormon for about three months before I decided to attend a church meeting. When I was ready I just looked up on LDS.org the city I lived in and it showed me where a church building was and where to meet. I wen't into the meeting that day and it changed my life forever. I met with the missionaries and after our first meeting they asked if I wanted to be baptized. without hesitation I replied, "YES" I was baptized three weeks later, and now I am going to be sealed to the love of my life for this life and the next very soon. I am so grateful for this Church and that God loves me enough to restore it to this earth during my lifetime. This church is the TRUE church and I know this and I say this with all my heart. in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am a recent convert, as in I have recently become a member of the LDS church. I converted in Feb. of 2013 and I served in my ward (Church building) as a compassionate service leader. In this calling I attended to the sick or the needy in any way. This is just as simple as sending out birthday cards, or calling someone up and letting them know that they matter.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Melissa Martin
YES, As a convert that was one thing that made me nervous. I didn't want to abandon what I had believed all my life if I wasn't certain that it was the truth, but I didn't have to abandon anything, in fact I gained an even stronger testimony of the Savior and why we are here because I was gifted with the Book of Mormon which is just another testimony of Christ's teachings here on this earth. Mormons firmly believe in the Bible. But we believe in both. Both testaments of God and his son. Show more Show less
