Hi I'm Dan

I was born and raised a Mormon in Southern Utah.

About Me

I was born and raised in the small town in Southern Utah. My father worked for the National Forest Service, and was a Master Sergeant with the Utah National Guard. My Mother was a school teacher. I have been lucky enough to be able to stay in Southern Utah and have started my own family. We love the outdoors and anything you can do in them. Fishing, Hunting, Camping, Boating, Biking, Hiking... The list goes on and on. I currently work in Public Safety where I get to work with Police, Fire, and EMS professionals on a daily basis. I was raised a Mormon and am raising my children Mormon. I served an LDS Mission to Tempe, Arizona. This is when I gained a true testimony of the truthfulness of the mormon faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I was raised in a Mormon home with parents who encouraged Christian principles. As I grew I came to a point in my life where I needed to find out for myself if the church was true. I was challenged at the age of 18 to read the story of the "First Vision" where Joseph Smith Jr. saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I was told to read this story and then ponder upon what I read. After I had pondered what I read I was told to go to my Heavenly Father in prayer and ask if this story was true. I can not explain to you how spiritual of an experience this was to me. I did just as I was asked and then went to a quiet, secluded place in the mountains near my home. I knelt in a humble prayer truly seeking an answer. I did not hear a voice or see angels, but the feeling that came to my heart and mind was so powerful and strong that I could not deny that the Holy Ghost was telling me that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and did in fact restore the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness back on the earth. I would encourage anybody to take this same challenge and then pray with real sincerity having faith to receive an answer from their Heavenly Father

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in a Bishopric and serve as the Bishops 2nd Counselor. I also served in the Young Men program and was a Scout Master/Assistant for more than 14 years. During the time I was a Scout Master I was able to take scouts on five "50 Milers". This was a highlight of watching these young boys grow in the scouting program while gaining a knowledge of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love to work with the youth and am amazed daily of their knowledge and spirit which they share.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Dan
My family is the most important thing to me in this life. To know that there is an eternal ability for us to be together forever brings so much happiness and joy to me. I know now the our Heavenly Fathers plan through the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My heart is full knowing that I have a loving Heavenly Father who has made it possible for me to be with my family forever. Show more Show less
