Hi I'm Elise

I enjoy reading, hiking, and meeting new people. I love my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with a lot of books in my home, and so reading is something I really enjoy. I love all of it: fantasy, science-fiction, mystery, adventure. My parents really wanted my siblings and me to be well-rounded, so I have also played the piano since I was eight, and I have participated in student government and some sports. I hope to someday travel, and since serving a mission for the LDS church in Paraguay and Argentina that desire has only increased. I want to use my time on earth to bless others. I am currently studying at Brigham Young University.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and I grew up in a strong Mormon household. I love my family, and I love the feeling of peace in our home. I know these feelings come in part as a blessing from my Heavenly Father. I love these blessings that come from Church! I can have my prayers answered, I can receive comfort and assurance, and through Christ I can do all things. I am a member of this church because I have seen from experience how living according to Christ's gospel can bless and strengthen individuals and families. I am a Mormon because every day I can feel myself coming closer to Christ, and it is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. I am a Mormon because I love my God and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a teenager, I worked closely with other young women. I helped plan camp-outs, girls' nights, and other fun activities to help the girls in our area grow closer together. I have also loved visiting and teaching with the women at church while I was going to college! As an assistant cub scout leader, I enjoyed helping the eight and nine year old boys learn helpful life skills such as tying knots and writing letters. As a missionary for the L.D.S. church, I had the opportunity to share my faith and testimony with others every single day for eighteen months. From 6:30 in the morning until 10:30 at night I focused on becoming more Christlike and teaching others about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Now I try to live my faith by learning as much as I can about Jesus Christ and His gospel by studying the scriptures and attending church meetings. I also strive to apply those teachings in my life. I want to be compassionate and understanding. I serve in my congregation as one of the women's leaders, and I love being able to visit and support these amazing young women. I believe that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy, so I do my best to earn lasting happiness by gaining an education, remembering the importance of families, and repenting of mistakes.

Are Mormons Christians?

Elise
Yes, Mormons are Christians. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He was born, lived a perfect life, and then He died-- but then He rose again. Due to His sacrifice, we all can live again. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I especially love reading of Him and His ministry in the New Testament and The Book of Mormon.
