Hi I'm Tanner

I am continuing education for a career in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. I'm a husband and father. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah and have two brothers and three sisters. My two younger sisters were adopted from China and another girl from China will be joining our family in a few months. I recently finished my bachelors degree in Human Movement Science. I enjoy learning about a variety of things but I particularly like to learn about the human body. It is truly incredible what the body is capable of! I want to use the things I have learned to help people in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. I have many hobbies and interests. Some of these include making things, drawing, photography, soccer, and skating. I also love spending time with my wife and two young daughters. Being a parent is challenging but very fun and rewarding as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family where learning about and worshiping God played a big part of our lives. We attended church each week together and we made an effort to pray and study the scriptures on a regular basis. My parents have helped me learn the importance of the Savior Jesus Christ and His Gospel. When I was 19, I was called as a missionary to serve in the Philippines. The time I spent there really helped me see how blessed I am. While I was there, I learned that happiness is not found in material things but rather in family relationships and in following God's plan. I also learned that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains a fullness that cannot be found in other religions. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to serve, help, and teach the Filipinos. After my missionary service, I was able to be married to a beautiful young woman in the temple for time and eternity. I am so grateful for our sacred union and the joy our marriage brings into my life. I know our marriage can continue after death through our continued faithfulness to our marriage covenant. The authority that makes eternal marriage possible is held by the living prophets and is available in the holy temple of God. I know that living the teachings of the Savior brings happiness and peace. I know the teachings found in this religion are true. I invite all to learn about the Savior and His Church which he has restored in its fullness to the earth in our day.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending worship services each Sunday with my wife. The services begin with Sacrament Meeting. This is where we all meet together, pray, sing hymns, listen to other members speak, and partake of bread and water to remember Christ's sacrifice for us all. This is the most important meeting of our worship services and helps us renew our resolve to remember Jesus Christ each day, try to be more like him, and keep his commandments. After Sacrament meeting, we have Sunday School. During this meeting we discuss various gospel topics like faith, repentance, or service. Following Sunday School, the women and men separate into different groups by age group to discuss various responsibilities of these groups. My wife and I have had a variety of responsibilities given to us by local church leaders. We currently serve in the nursery during the second and third hours of church services. We also have responsibilities to visit some of the members of the church in their homes and see how things are going in their lives and share inspiring messages with them each month. We also receive these visits from members. We have found them to be a source of strength and encouragement. We feel cared about when members take time to come visit us. Each day I spend time reading and listening to The Bible, The Book of Mormon, and other inspiring material. My wife and I also study scriptures together and with our children. Prayer also plays a big part in how I live my faith. It helps me recognize and express thanks for blessings received. It also helps me learn what God would have me do in my life. One of the best places to do this is the temple. In the temple, we can leave all our worries behind and focus on the eternal. It is the best place for me to feel closer to God.
