Hi I'm Hayden

I'm 1 of 6 sons, an Eagle Scout, an actor and musician, an athlete, and I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

I will soon graduate High School. I've participated in performing arts classes and productions while also competing as a co-captain of my school's varsity basketball team. Service to God and to others I believe are one and the same. Good parents have supported me throughout my life, but my relationship with God and my testimony of Jesus Christ has lead me through the clear and cloudy days of my life. One day several years ago my 18 year old brother fell asleep and never woke up. I know that my brother and I may be reunited again some day because I know that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and conquered mortality. I love my Savior for sacrificing his life for me so I may have comfort and peace in this life and justice in the life to come. My older brothers have set an example for me by serving missions for my church and I will soon follow their example and share the knowledge and joy that I have with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was something my parents and many of my ancestors believed was true. I was baptized at 8 years old because I wanted to do what was right and I was taught and believed that Jesus Christ was my Savior. Today I still know that Jesus loves me and still honor the promise I made to God when I was eight. Keeping the commandments of God helps me to be happy. Studying the words of ancient and modern prophets and apostles helps me feel the spirit and teaches me what I should do. The Priesthood of God was restored to the earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. in the 1800's; he saw God and received instruction and authority to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his church to the earth; I know this to be true-that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Our church provides classes for its youth to take while in high school called Seminary. I serve as President for the seminary youth council and help to encourage my peers to gain a testimony through studying their scriptures and praying to their Father in Heaven. Our council has been able to contribute to the spirit of Seminary by helping class presidencies know how to motivate their classmates and by setting an example for our friends. When I turned twelve I received the Aaronic Priesthood. This priesthood gives me authority to "watch over" the members of my church and participate in the administration of the sacrament. The sacrament is the most sacred ordinance in our church because it symbolizes the renewal of our Baptismal Covenant or promise. Everything I do is in relation to my personal worthiness to participate in this ordinance. I live my life in remembrance of Jesus Christ's Atonement when he suffered and died for the sins of the world. I serve the members of my same priesthood through true friendship-helping them choose the right-and fulfilling our priesthood duties together as a quorum.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is founded by Jesus Christ himself. He taught that we should "love one another" and have charity in every aspect of our lives. Family is the most important and most eternal unit of His church and assures us that we are indeed children of a loving Father in Heaven. People want to know they are loved, people want to know they belong somewhere, people want to know HOW they can maintain their families in a world of slackening values; through Jesus Christ's doctrine and his life, the questions of our lives are answered.
