Hi I'm John

I am a brother of three sisters whose lives seemed to have ended tragically, but that is not the end of their story...

About Me

First and foremost, I am a husband and father of five amazing children and one granddaughter. I grew up in a family of faith, but also a family of tragedy--or so it would seem. You see, my family has an extensive history of mental illness, which often seems to tear families apart and threaten to destroy the happiness that I believe God intends us to have, even to live a "Plan of Happiness," here on earth. But it has been the sorrows in my life, that have given me the ability to feel true happiness and joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with faith in Christ, having been taught to believe by good parents who loved me. For a time, as a young man, I had many doubts and was not actively involved in my faith, but when I began to face real challenges in life, I felt afraid and alone. It was then that I realized I could only feel peace when I lived what I knew to be true and right. That desire to be happy and to be at peace has kept me wanting to serve others and thereby show my love for my Heavenly Father who I know loves me.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with many friends and associations that I cherish, both at home, and in my work in healthcare administration. My faith in Christ is all about serving Him, in the way He taught us all to serve. I have been blessed to serve as a lay clergy for six years, a Scoutmaster for five years, a Councilor for five years, and for many years as a teacher in my Faith. For two years, I lived in Japan and taught this gentle people about Jesus Christ. I love to serve those in need, particular when I can serve in secret, as I think that is the service that does the most good. If you don't know who served you, you're likely to be a little kinder to everyone, because what if you're not kind to a person, and later learn that it was the person that had secretly served you? Secret service tends to snowball, and more people are blessed as a result.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Because I believe these relationships can be eternal, they are worth my very best efforts. My faith in God convinces me that He wants my family to be happy. For 30 years I have been happy in marriage and for 29 years, as a father. Following Christ's example of service and love yields the best relationships possible. Even during life's biggest challenges, my family's confidence in me has sustained me. Show more Show less
